Extracting files from a Pin-Point game

Like the title says, I'm trying to extract files from a Pin-Point game (specifically the dialogue script) and since I know nothing about programming and the likes, I have no idea where to start looking for help, so I thought I'd ask here to begin with, since I might have a chance that someone here has done this in any other games from them.

Edit: Well actually, extracting them wasn't so difficult, I looked it up and 7zip did the job just fine. However, now I don't know which file is which, and the bigger concern for later is how I'll be able to recompile the .exe with the altered script.

If you want to just extract the data use Crass, it does get the job done and it has an UI. For more advanced stuff you can use the xp3tools which allows you to repack into the xp3 format, but it doesn't have an UI, and you have to use the command prompt. There may be newer tools but I haven't looked into them.

I'll try to look into Crass now, since I might have a way to repack the data with another program

Also, I've actually looked into xp3tools before I came back. Sadly, I don't know to use it since it uses Python to run the prompts, but no matter how much I try it won't work for me. Of course I blame myself entirely, since I don't know anything about programming, so if anyone who knows Python wants to lend me a hand, I'll appreciate it.

I also found another program with a UI called Krkrextract, however the problem with that one is that for my game, it closes itself after I run it as intended, so it's basically useless.

So I was checking, I can't extract with xp3tools for God-knows-why reason, but I can repack. All you need to do is written in the README. Open the cmd, type in
Code:
cd *path where you saved the xp3tools folder, like C:\user\...\xp3tools

The to do the repack you have to type in

Code:
xp3-repack.exe *path of the folder you want to repack* filename.xp3

And that should be it. Consider that the newest pin-point games have a encryption and that makes the things a bit harder with the repack, if you're using the patch.xp3 method

Code:
cd *path where you saved the xp3tools folder, like C:\user\...\xp3tools
Is this in Python or normal Windows cmd? Because either way, I doesn't do anything on those.

Edit: turns out my cmd doesn't do normal cd commands, I had to do cd /d to get it to do that. Although the problem is different now, since like you said, it doesn't want to extract.

I also tried crass and while it did extract the files, none of them are usable appearently.

That's weird. cd is a basic command. Anyway, the file are unusable because they are encrypted, is there a .tmp file in the game directory?

Probably Windows 10 shenanigans. Also no, there's the .exe, .xp3 and a .tpm file.

Open Crass, check the box "param" and type in:
Code:
tpm1=" *path to the game folder*\xp3dec.tpm"

Then Execute and wait for the results.
SUCCESS! I can see the files properly now! Huge thanks for this!

I'll look up later how to do the repacking and see if it works properly, but you don't have any idea of how much I was frustrated just trying to do this part.

Thank you again!

You're welcome! The xp3repacking tool should work, I did check. Consider that if you're working on a patch, you may get some errors as you need to encrypt the patch with the same encryption of the game. I solved this problem by repacking the whole content of the "data.xp3" without the tpm encryption, probably not the best way to do it but it worked... Well, maybe you won't get this problem, but if you do...

I'll do a test and see how much difficult it'll be, I was also looking at translator++ , since that program has really good features for translating and can also repack as well, but since I haven't gotten to this step yet I haven't tried either.
