MPC-HC = Media Player Classic - Home Cinema ;)
It's not a codec problem, but an decoder issue. The link has instructions how to make it work with MPC-HC, though.
Skip to the part titled "Setup guide for MPC-HC + madVR" and then follow the instructions. They have screenshots.
