It's like you said, the problem is that the software doesn't detects the "DVD", therefore it closes, when I dealt with Shakkin Shimai, 2 and After Story, at first I had problems with SS2 authentication, but after some time I found a "trick" to actually pass it. This might not like you but, maybe you'll have to search for complete versions of those games to be able to play them. People, for the sake of reducing time and disk space, upload the "Dummy Cut" version because is lighter, the problem with Selen games, probably with all of them is that, even if you have no problems at the time you install the game, you'll need those dummy files, that are removed because "they are useless", to pass pass the authentication phase, and this happens because the game compares the actual weight of the media you used and the weight that originally has to be, if they don't match then you don't pass, and most likely that's why it send you an error.
When I first downloaded Shakkin Shimai 2 I had the same problem and had to search for the game again and again until I found one that was full, if I don't remember wrong, the dummy cut weighted around 1.2Gb while the full one had a weight of 4.1Gb more or less, but, I passed the authentication part thanks to that.
Sadly I don't know any way around Selen's authentication besides this one.
