Sorry, I was away for a couple of days and got back just a few minutes ago. Could you please tell me whether it was the Commie or HorribleSubs release (or better yet, link me the thread)? I'll take a look at it shortly.
I also recommend to avoid using VLC for anime, since it's bad at rendering subtitles and slow to adopt new encoding procedures. For best quality and compatibility PotPlayer is the program of choice. If you don't want to spend an hour or two setting it up perfectly, mplayer2 and CCCP (get the July 15th beta) do a good job. These three can all play Hi10p videos, which are likely to become common soon.
