    A possible workaround to the text problem: use vistalizator, (http://www.froggie.sk/). it basically converts windows completely to one language to another. just download the japanese language pack provided and follow the instructions. it worked for me: I was able to see the text displayed...

    For anyone having the problem with garbled text: you could try using vistalizator (http://www.froggie.sk). It worked for me on windows 7 Home.
