And make sure you've COMPLETELY installed DirectX 9 (original and its subsequent updates) first (available from the "DirectX" folder of the game disc).

And with yesterday big update win10 killed itself badly; no recovery this time, reinstall it's the only option; fortunately it's not my main os, i have both win7 and xp so i can live without...........

Win 7. I only played until the choice selection. No crashes so far. Neither in-game, nor when switching between save and load screen.
I have refused to t try Windows 10 so far, so forgive my naiveity but could it be related to their check + disabling of illegal software?

If that had been the case, then you would have already encountered the same thing and / or some sort of Starforce-like stuff, even under Win7.

There's probably something in the scripts / game engine not compatible with Win 10. However, as the persons above did not elaborate what's wrong, when it's crashed, etc., everything is just speculation / wild guess.

If anybody encounter problem with downloading those packages it could be caused by wifi network setted as metered connection. I hope it helps. Sorry for my poor english... m(_ _)m.

I had the same problem. Fixed it by changing my region format to Japanese, just like in Irotoridori no Sekai. No need to download additional font packages

I also having trouble with no text error (Like Saffis) and solve it. I'm using Win 10 64Bit fyi.

Just try change your "Locale" to Japan and change your "Time and Date" format to Japan.

As what shlepsheed mentioned above, it should work by adjusting those settings.

P.S. It seems that you haven't played any games from WillPlus's brands (i.e. ensemble, PULLTOP, etc.) previously, where the aforementioned settings have to be done since Kono Oozora ni, Tsubasa wo Hirogete, which was released a few years ago...

All I get is simply "Runtime Error" on starting the installation wizard, base game installed that is. Does this have something to do with the installation directory or my hardware, or I'm missing something here?

Maybe that's because the patch setup program is not compatible with Win11?

I don't have that patch in hand currently, and the following is from bug fix patches of the brand's other games, so there may be some differences, but anyway:
1. Extract the contents of the patch to a location of your choice, then go to that folder by the File Explorer.
2. Inspect if the folder mentioned in 1 contains data archive (*.arc) files. If not, go to check its subfolder(s) until you find them. However, if the folder that contains such files is named "data", then you have to go back up one level, i.e. the folder that contains that "data" folder. (P.S. I still have the game in my machine, and it doesn't have any "data" sub-folder (i.e. files are stored directly in the game's folder), but this note may help you if you encounter the same problem when dealing with the brand's other games in the future)
3. From the folder mentioned in 2, copy everything (including sub-folders), except the following, to the game exe's folder: setup.exe (the patch's setup program), setup.ini (the file that directs what the setup.exe should do), readme.txt (thet patch's readme file, if exists), and the "image" sub-folder (contains images displayed in the setup.exe, if exists).
4. Try to run the game to see if the option to the Ichika's route appears.

[Off-topic] To attach an image:
0. Make sure you're replying/posting in "advanced mode"
1. From "Additional Options" (scroll down), click "Manage Attachments"
2. Click "Add Files", browse and select the desired images, and then click "Upload"
3. (If not done already) drag the desired images to the "Attachments" area of the pop-up box, and then click "Insert Inline"
