I've tried different version of this game from different uploaders and I always end up with the same thing "Startup failed". I think I won't be trying anymore, this game just won't work on both my laptop and my 1 year old desktop...

Is the laptop and desktop you're using for it uses filtered GPU? if so, try changing it to "use app setting" instead. If that doesn't work, try checking your data exe prevention. If still doesn't work, you may need to change the program comparability. But this are pretty much probably not the case.

I'm having something of a different problem. The game will start, and a warning message will display in Japanese that states this is a work of fiction and yadda yadda. But after the warning message fades, the game just closes.

I've tried changing the compatibility settings to everything from XP to Windows 7 and it still does the same thing, and my GPU doesn't have any option for "use app setting".

From what I read from another forum, you need to set both your computer "Format" and "Keyboard" to Japanese instead, in order to run it. I've try it and it works. Although someone mentioned that you may revert the settings back into your previous settings after it run once. It doesn't seems to be the case to me.


This probably may work on @Eromaniac also if the computer he uses currently on different format/local. If it was set on Japanese, then it's probably another issue.

This doesn't work. The game keeps changing the settings back to English, and closes out after the warning.

I have the Japanese regional and language packs installed.

Other than these two, the game will never work.

Even if after these settings, and the game still doesn't work. It appears that the last resort is having the 3rd trigger which is changing the Non-unicode to Japanese on 3rd tab of region window. Although, I didn't seems to be needing that, or did I?

I set the locale and default format to Japanese, my keyboard setting was Japanese (the game keeps changing it back to English), and my language for non-Unicode programs was set to Japanese. And it still didn't work.

If that's the case, I do not know how to help you anymore, unless I can find the issue from my own pc. From the sounds of it, it looks like your pc doesn't want you to play it in certain reasons.
If that's really the issue, then all I can think of is that pc system are not working very well or probably malfunctioned or infested. Or perhaps, someone prepare some security restore that never allow the system format to be changed.

If it's due to the system malfunctioned or infested. Even just antivirus won't do, there could be malware also. Or probably a new kind of those that we haven't even know. For now, I can only wish you a good luck for resolving that issue.

I'll upload some screenshots when I have time and see if you can pinpoint the problem. No other Japanese game has given me this problem.
Also I've run a scan on my Windows and my system is clean of malware, and I have been running the program with administrator privileges.

I think I know what I'm missing, I already had the rest done but the keyboard wasn't changed. Now I know what to do. Thanks.
