Just to be sure, we still need to get the updates separately, right? I'm asking because these ones have always been buggy as hell.

Wait, there's updates we need to get after getting this one?

Wait, there's updates we need to get after getting this one?

Usually when you see these collections, almost never they patch the content to reflect the latest version, so you are on your own (aka check if the game is updated once installed).
Overflow games are notorious for being quite messy and with gamebreaking bugs so updates should be installed (I remember being stuck to a route until updating, which also forced wiping the save).

Now, while I don't know if this bundle has been updated, you can find the patches here: https://www.0verflow.com/support-update.html

it's janapese language only collection, right?

Box's just been released. So yeah, full Japanese.

And only 2 out of the 5 games in the box ever got an official English translation (more details on vndb if you want).

The games have been pre-patched to their latest versions at least according to what it says on the various games' readmes, abouts, and game window title bars, and are supposed to be disc-free with no online/offline checks - listed as one of the features/specs near the bottom of the box's main page, so most if not all of the games even generally have a suffix added to their version number to denote being part of this special box release. Thus far then, it seems the only one needed and available to be patched should be SBD2, it's near the top of the support page (as "SBD2_BOX_update1.01.zip").

I've tried most of the versions of the releases from this box using integrated video taking note of the NVIDIA mentions, and only Shiny Days has a problem, one that happens even before the game starts - it seems to want a Disc 3 and there isn't one (and this check shouldn't even be present) as far as I know, I've even tried using the other discs to try to get past this. Unless it only occurs on this end, looks like whoever was in charge of the task of removing the disc checks on Overflow's side messed up with Shiny Days exclusively and was at least one letter/hexadecimal/whatever off, perhaps more.

Some other things I've noted:

- There's a bit of skipping from time to time in the main games at least on this machine that keeps me going to the BACKLOG to see what they said while the game lagged briefly - and there doesn't seem to be a replay voice function either there or in game, at least not from what I've seen, so you miss what you miss unless you reload (must remember to pause by moving the mouse to the top of the screen and clicking the button...). It makes me think it's because the footage is split into multiple files and it has pretty brief loading times as it goes in between them, though it sometimes seems to just happen whenever it wants to, with the wait/thinking light on the computer lit when this is happening (unless you're on higher specs?).

- Maybe not so much of an issue but in the main entries, the game doesn't run at full screen on a secondary screen made to be the main screen likely due to a difference in refresh rate on the other one, reminding me of codec issues from older games. Running the game in that kind of setup makes it as far as the first seconds of a new game before not really doing much else - either a blank black screen after the game's logo or only showing whatever some of the first seconds of footage leave on the screen at the time, and no, there's no simple fix-all Virtual Full-screen mode(?). Then, the game needs closing from the Task Manager, as it can't be closed without the prompt appearing in game. Naturally, it's fine if the machine's own screen is used.

Yeah I can confirm the games actually being uptodate, which I'm more than glad with.

As for shiny days, I've just installed it a few days ago and didn't encounter this kind of an issue, but then again I imported my old saves, so I don't know if it has bypassed any kind of check in this regard.

This would be quite odd though, as I don't recall any no dvd needed for the older version either.

Interesting. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, red/l-ing from scratch, installing with one disc in at a time as well as both. It only and exclusively happens with Shiny, as I've ran the majority of releases in the collection without a problem other than the aforementioned minor gripes. The fact that it's present at all seems to suggest it's still in the program somewhere despite not fully being there/not being functional (seemingly by developer's accident as it's just this one) even if it works for others.

Without even opening up the game's window, the error that pops up sometimes with delay states,

SHINYDAYS・DISC3を入れてください。

despite the lack of a need for discs, there never(?) having been a third disc, and the discs only ever having been for installing. A typo in the code, and material for a future patch, I guess. Also, while a yes/no option is present, yes does nothing regardless of disc, no quits.

To put things into detail, I'm running on a drive-less machine, on a higher Windows than their site advises to, and just to say again, integrated video. I've tried running the game both with a save from sagaoz and without it, I'm not using any sort of locale utility/translation/text tools or whatnot, just Windows itself fully set to Japanese. I've tried using it both without the DirectX DLL their site offers and with (though that's for some other issue), though it should definitely run without that being changed anyway, the readmes say they're ready to run out of the box. I'm fairly sure I've updated what I can. It's not installed into a system protected or write protected folder, either.

It is especially asking for disk 3 with that message, what the...

As for my pc, it's a desktop and while I did add a dvd burner, it kind of died (was too lazy to remove it as of yet), so I don't know if the reason for that message is a bug or there is indeed some kind of check: this though reminded me of the LUNE collection package, about 50% of them has some crappy drive AND daemontools triggers which will let not you play those games unless you unistall daemon tools, remove any virtual drives AND use a physical drive to insert the game (the games don't even check if the disk is authentic, only matter is a burned disk is phisically inserted in a drive, and I don't get this level of BS, honestly, as it it's impossible to play these games on a driveless pc).

But going back to shiny days, have you tried to keep mounted the shiny days disk when playing? If it doesn't work, I could provide you my full save folder and you can test if the game works with you or if it still keeps asking for a disk.

EDITED POST

"Ini.GPK". In the Packs folder, inside the installed game's folder.

This was the file. After analyzing both the installed file/folder structure of the games and the history of what some of the things on the computer were doing, I ended up putting an unexpected two and two together, and getting something interesting. The file was missing, the other games had it, this one didn't.

If anyone runs into the trouble I did from all these posts, get it and perhaps any other one from the game that was removed out of the Quarantine of whatever security-related software you're using, mark it safe for each title in this pack that you install, at least, for the main ones. Put it back in the Packs folder in the folder you installed the game in. It's that simple. The culprit wasn't even an EXE/DLL as it usually is this time, either.

I was not paying enough attention to it enough despite the fact that after it removed it (and maybe one more or so I thought - no other entry remains in the history) earlier from the first one I'd installed and I restored the file in that case, marking it safe and all, the software had never tried to remove it the second time so I thought all had been said and done. This time the software didn't even tell me what it had done as it did the first time, so clearly, it wasn't. This remains, however, the most interesting solution I have ever seen. 8 KB. One file. That's all it took. I even got it right the first time, just had to repeat the process, and it just wasn't evident at the time.

This went on for a fair bit, and I apologize. I had not been expecting the GPK(s?) I'd returned earlier to continue to be removed at this rate (with each install, actually?). I accidentally hit the Panic button too soon, and posted everything that wasn't the report on the games being pre-patched to the latest version with no checks, the minor gripes I was experiencing. I should have known something was funny when the only report of this just happening was on my end and absolutely no comments of a similar nature were made anywhere I looked. Even the digital manual gave me a clue and I am now existentially facepalming.

The pack is generally fine (everything may as well be ready to go out of the box now), with most titles tested and working now (haven't tried the really lowest-level ones) aside from the minor gripes I mentioned in the earlier posting alongside the reports of video card issues (NVIDIA). Please keep an occasional eye on your security's Quarantine (if applicable).

Anyway, this is how you learn how a game is structured. Though, honestly, all this by a curious file that one's security software is likely to remove? Though despite having found my problem's answer, the error message involving a third disc still has me redundantly asking, "...what? ...how?"

IIRC Overflow homepage stated that at least one game was triggering some AV so maybe yours was indeed that problem.
Regarding the error message, imho it was either some kind of leftover into the code (maybe at first they thought about putting a disk requirement but then changed their mind), or they copy pasted some portion of the code from their other projects to quicken the development process (I saw quite the number of devs doing this upon investigating some vns...).

Either way glad to hear that you found the solution for your problem.

Hi Ryzen-sama, please update LOOK.hac (RJ01195726) to ver 2.2 if you don't mind as it added the Eng subtitles! Thank you for your great work as always ❤️

Hello, there seems to be something wrong with the file you uploaded. The game works fine, but it doesn't play music. I use dameon tools lite and prompt "unable to mount image. Cue sheet: line 1-file not accessible." Could you please re-upload it?
