A game to return to

This is likely a bit of an odd line of questioning, but here goes. I've had a bit of hiatus from eroge and visual novels for a while, and I'm looking for a good point to jump into again. I'm lucky enough that I have a strong enough Japanese background that I can read things that aren't too structurally (e.g. heavy exposition) or linguistically (e.g. technical terms, archaic language, complex speech patterns) complex, that with a little mechanical assistance, I can fill in most of the blanks in my knowledge. This widens the pool a bit, but I'd love to hear some suggestions for games.

A few ground rules though, I don't mind nukige, but I tend to avoid NTR or revenge scenarios; just not my cup of tea. And I'm not opposed to nakige, but just give me a good reason if it's a soul-crushing one. :P
