anybody know of a modern browser or extension that wont allow a tab that is opened in background to load, while I have preload off?

I've often set links to open in new tabs for latter, but was under the impression that if I have preload off, the browser would actually not use any bandwith until I got to that tab. neither chrome or edge seem to acutally use the setting, as intended. only videos aren't preloaded instead instead off sites.

I'm kinda burning through bandwith and other computer resources without the feature acutally being made to use for more than stopping videos from playing.

i really need some assistance on this. I'm expeirancing the browsers using too much memory consumption by both chrome and edge.

Hello,

according to a Firefox forum you can try to set the following settings to "True" in about:config

browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand
browser.sessionstore.restore_pinned_tabs_on_demand
services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand

Here is the forum thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1222039

I was also able to find an addon for Chrome-based browsers here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tiny-suspender/bbomjaikkcabgmfaomdichgcodnaeecf

I have not tried these settings or addons, but maybe they help you.
