My personal war to make myself Steam-independent has yielded... mixed results. My original saves are fine. However, in terms of running the game, I can run AEF just fine, but because AA was installed through Steam originally, I believe that this version of the AA executable requires Steam to run. In other words, with the steam.api.dll in my Dies Irae folder, there is no response when I try to run AA. If I delete the .dll file, the executable gives me an error message. Obviously, AEF is unaffected. For now, it's fine to just play AEF.
However, when I go back to AA to get Rea 2. I will either need to swallow my pride and reinstall Steam or get an AA executable that does not need Steam. This isn't quite pirating, as I bought the game. More about pride than profit. I've heard that, while this is not a legal issue (as I bought the game), it might be against Steam's ToS, but fuck, I don't care if Steam bans me. Basically, does anyone have a Steam-independent AA executable (possibly the one from Manga Gamer, which I didn't even realize existed until recently)? Again, I don't need any of the other files, as I already bought the game, but the AA executable apparently requires Steam .dll files.
