totaly random post mainly targeting the Norwegian people on this amazing community. :lecture:

tryed eat rice with chopsticks, didn't work our so well. :crushed:
can't find any ''sticky texture rice'' in any of the shops we have here. :dispirited:

same with snacks like Pocky. and basicly anything thay have in Japan, EXCEPT chopsticks which i have hundreds off.
(need any i'll send em to you ^^:menft:)

so ye. basicly anyone know what stores that sells these stuff? mainly in Tromsø or Oslo.

Sticky rice? If you mean the sushi rice thats made with vinegar salt water and sugar~

Hello Eucliwood, not sure if I can help but I'll give as much detail about rice as I can~

Firstly, the context of the so called 'Sticky Rice' differs between cultures. The reason for this is mainly due to the method used when cooking rice and to some extent what type of rice was used. What westerners call white rice made by Oriental people is 'sticky rice'. However to us Orientals, we just refer to every white rice as rice. This is because in our culture we also have another term for sticky rice.

This is something called Lo Mai Fan. You can search up images of it since I am failing to load pictures. Anyways Lo Mai Fan is something that we usually have on Chinese New Year.

Sorry for straying out of topic but the rice that we've been using for many years (probably since long before I was born too) is a brand called Green Dragon Hong rice (Fragrant) though if you are unable to find this there are other alternatives. Anyways, from what I've looked up 'A Food Market', 'T&T', 'Asia Supermarket', Torget Frukt og Grønt' are ones you could look out for if you're searching for rice!
 
Oh hai there... I know your dilemma. And I know there's a lot more to know about rice than most westernes usually do like the sticky kind of rice...unfortunately I don't know where to get it, I simply haven't bothered looking for it. Only problem I have with chopsticks is eating the sauce.....now that can be tricky....especially if I'm eating soup :rolleyes:

I read up about it sometimes...I think iirc that you might be looking for some short grained basmati rice.....but don't take my word for, thats just something I seem to remember from somewhere.

And well yeah I see you encountered Hideki already...He is indeed swedish, very good at giving me "svidd fisk" fish when I'm cooking thereby changing it from norwegian to swedish. (svidd dish)

Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near you so I don't really know much, sorry. Where I live I usually go to the China town for such.
But maybe I can help you, with sticky texture rice, do you mean Koshihikari? Its texture is sticky, normally used for onigiri, sushi, etc.
 
Lol then its the one i originally mentioned xD The recipe differs according to taste though~ Tons of ways to make if you google :3
