I have figured a few things after trying playing so i though about sharing the info. Note that i'm not entirely certain about everything, but i belive it works to me.
Some new units unlocks when making certain buldings.
(*)The yelow stars comes from repeling high rank raids, so if you start a raid in a new location (even if the foes are stronger) it'll go down until the raids level get high again.
There are game endings with some character after getting all their scenes, you can start new game+ so it's recomended to do when you are 0 days for the ending.
Soujin unlocks after battling in the woods enough, you also may need to make a gym building after some point.
Keifa unlocks after getting the ability to buy pasive dungeon abilities which would happen after advancing a little and making some bulding besides champion chambers. You also need to keep battling in the farm.
Keifa's scenes unlocks often after buying pasive dungeon abilities and the amount of O you get from buildings.
Kakouton unlocks after enough battling in the town northwest of the original dungeon. She can require more O thing from buildings to advance her route.
Kakouen unlocks in the same town than Kakouton after her. She can require some new domestic buildings to advance her route.
Kakouton and Kakouen need you to have seen certain ammount of the other's scenes in order to keep advancing.
Minmei 's scenes comes battling in the city northeast from the farm
Kannei's scenes comes after battling in the same city than Minmei, but her events are affected by your current stars rank. (see (*) for more info)
Shaoren's scenes shows after battling in the castle
Be careful while advancing Karin if you are not looking for her ending, if you go too far she'll get her power back and then you won't be able to keep advacing anyone else (but Kuu with her second ending.
Sonken scenes comes after battling in the castle but you also need to advance with Karin enough for her to go out.
I think the champions special abilities levels (3) are determinated by how many times you have unlocked new levels to said champion.
blattle tips:
Newgame+ allows you to keep champions/units levels, materials and dungeon pasive skills, some extra dungeon not related to characters are also inherited but you can't bring buildings or money to newgame+ so try to use it all before getting endings.
Kuu can heal a little other units if not battling (at least she can do it after getting strong enough).
Keifa and Shuuran have ranged attacks.
Kazuto's special ability repair buildings. But don't look it down. It cost little sp and with strong boss chambers (not champion) and poison is good agains high numbers raids.
Karin's special ability returns all foes to the entrance. It may be good to use if some thieves are getting into your treasure by passing through your champions without killing them.
Kakouen's special ability put a force shield around your units that absorb certain amount of damage. Pretty usefull.
Kuu's special ability heals your units.
Soujin's special ability increase your units attack (i think)
Some units have a skill like a feather or a curved direction, they respawn way more than others units. (though all units respawn a little according to their level/develope)
You can select enemy units in order to make them a target so your units focus more often their attacks on them (somewhat useful agains slippery units)
If you have no unit in the dungeon entrance it may be good idea to put the mushroom garden around the entrance in order to poison your enemies.
Facilities:
The prism repair normal buildings (like the mushroom ones) but it doesn't work with boss monster chambers.
The room with japanese characters in the floor and walls heals nearby units if enemy has step in that chamber ny draining the energy from them.
