Soooo there used to be plenty of common sense~ but today there doesn't seem to be x-x

What do you think common sense is? (has it gotten better or worse? XD)
What are some things that should be common sense, but isn't?
For people who don't do that, what do you think makes people be that way?

soo one of the major things I think should be common sense is washing hands. x-x
I think they don't do that because they were never taught the importance of washing hands (or the consequences of not doing that). People grow up not caring and are more difficult to teach.

Hmm hygiene in general... Some of the people around... like my sis... thinks that knowing about those whatever bands and whatnot is common sense not that i care :goodtea:

Common sense? Driving with the weather.

My region is coming into the winter season. Snow, wet, and icy roads... driving becomes quite hazardous. Common sense says drive with the weather. If roads are icy, drive slowly and anticipate sliding. Don't go out if you don't have to.

And yet, people, experienced drivers who should know better, drive as if it were a dry summer day... fast and loose.

The local news reported a car sliding through an intersection (red light,) and slamming into a car. Three people hospitalized.

First common sense is not at all that common, nor is it necessary. Its a control element implanted in humanity from days of old. Current media has slowly deteriorated the common people's minds are depreciating the brain's mental capabilities. However there are also those that have broken through the limits dictated by common sense and these are the people that excel in what they do. I for one no longer have common sense in exchange for having a transcendental view/philosophy in life.

Second, nothing, common sense is unnatural. What we should follow is instinct and intuition.

Third, stupidity and blatant arrogance.

Washing hands shouldn't be common sense. Washing hands after going to the bathroom should be a rule, not common sense. Washing hands before eating? not really. The human body becomes sickly without a sufficient number of germs in and about it.

Hmm, I was changing a light bulb once and a friend was watching me. They then said "Oh, is that how you do it?"
I've also had loads of people complain to me about being sleep-deprived. Their caffeine intake and frequent naps probably didn't help the quality of sleep at night...

Aside from these and others, I guess people's life-styles and personal priorities over-ride common sense, so I don't know if we can really say that common sense is decreasing or not..

Here we go with SnowAngel and her/his (sorry i dunno ._.) heavy topic lol xD.

I think common sense is about how we act with appropriate manner.
And yeah, many people today lack of common sense.

Something that must (yes, I say it's a must) be common sense is don't get busy with our phone when we're with others or talking to someone. We know, most people nowadays like zombie who always play with his/her phone even when they're talking or hangout with other people. IMO it so annoying, and in other sense this act doesn't respect the other people.

behaviors that I consider common sense are more instinct and survival..

such as - if a car is driving down the street and you see it, don't step in front of it

most things that people think may be common sense are more what society teaches or expects as common human behavior

pretty much~ my psy teacher that some people who have a very high IQ might not have the same common sense. She compared it with people under 90 and over 110. While both are great at something than average, they also aren't able to be as normal as other people :P
we talked alot about IQ~ it's interesting how people how taken out the true intension for it x-x

Hmm depends what type of people you are around and culture and stuff~ In chinese homes (mine anyway) people dont wear their shoes inside and as for others... well depends...

i live in america and would rather have a shoes-off rule. (I LOVE A CLEAN HOUSE!!! :D)
I'd love to adopt some Japanese/asian style things in my home, including ways to treat others and guests.

hmm it should be common sense here to learn about saving money~ yet alot of people never learn that til they're thrown out into adult life. Some don't ever learn..

EVen cooking x-x Learning that should be common.. but even girls here don't know how to cook. (guilty lol XD)
It's part of finances as well~ knowing what to eat while affording the best and be healthy.

Well, in my opinion common sense created by local society customs same as culture it will be slightly different in each country; now the question that we should being answer by ourselves for those common senses. Can we adapt to society common sense? Or should we follow those common senses?
I would say when you're in Rome then you should like Romans do.

One thing for sure, in my country ~ I won't ever walk nude in public

Doesnt have to be another country to have a different "common sense" since it differs for cities, neighborhoods, houses, and even people ;p Everyone has a different sense even if they share similarities with those close to them~
