Don't know if a question about a movie made out of an anime series really fits here, but since it doesn't belong to spam (I think)...

What do you guys think of the movie adaptation of the Rurouni Kenshin anime ?

For me, the anime is one of my best preferred ever ! I really love it.

I also like the movie. I mean, it's difficult to take a brilliant anime made of 95 episodes and bam ! create a movie. And wait to see if the movie has a good reception and earnings, then the sequel comes along.

I like Kenshin's character. I also like the acting of Yahiko and Kaoru.

What's your take on this ?

PS I meant adaptation in the title. There is such a word, but it was not my intention..

Mmm, i kind of liked it. While it was quite the original story, i think that the vision, themes, personality and everything was carried
quite well. I mean, Kenshin WAS Kenshin, Kaoru WAS Kaoru, Saito WAS Saito and so on.
Then again, the fighting scenes were tastefully done. Most of the stuff was more or the less realistic to japaneses parameters. I mean, while they wire jumped a couple of times, it was subtle enough not to make me feel like puking.

If they decide to continue the saga with even more movies, i would watch them without hesitation.

It was a fine adaptation movie with for all the limitation that exist. I like how Kenshin did not immediately resort to draw his Sakabato, instead he uses hand to hand combat, running, flipping on the air or parrying with the base of his sword.

The weakness lie in how they remove Aoshi (Guess looking for that kind of tall and handsome guy kind of difficult) and the gang. Also I didn't like how low quality the Sanosuke's fight is, they kind of funny though. Lastly is the flying gatotsu which are bad, too forced and awful.

I was extremely glad the movie showed in my local cinemas back then.

And of course, like many others, I dont think anyone would have regretted watching the movie even if they didnt know what's the movie's about. Movie adaptation was fine and classy, nothing fancy and nothing over the board, everything was tact and perfect in my opinion. The fights, the blood spills, and the dedication to the ideals that the characters believed was served in the movie which I was pleasantly pleased about. The occasional great laughs made the tense movie a light-hearted affair at times, something which I appreciate even more, as its only typical japanese original.

Satoh Takeru is no stranger to big screens, even if you dont want to count his portrayals of the Dennou (Kamen Rider Series) on multiple big screens due to its success. So when I saw him casted, and watched, I am really glad he got the role. Other characters pale in comparison to him, but overall, movie was still worth every single penny I paid for.

It was a nice movie. I cant say it was different from the anime. Even my dad loves to watch it over and over..

i liked i wish the make more sequels based the anime series

And i wish to see a prequel from the OVAs...

Yeah the movie's really great! The ending too, The Beginning by One Ok Rock, is a nice song! Looking forward for the next movie sequel! :D

Oh that was a really good film adaptation. I'm glad they didn't focus on naming the movies when they were fighting that might of made it a little corny. I think they got a good actor to play that police man slayer guy. I really liked how it showed how Kenshin got his scars on his face.

Cant wait for a next one I hope its got Shishio Makoto in it.

It was being played at one of our Japanese conventions. I slept through first part, second was better (maybe cause I had 3 beers in the meantime)
