Even if you have not mony to buy a text book, it's fine. I think it is a little pain, but you can learn Japanese. I thought that you can learn Japanese efficiently if informations are concentrated, so I recommend you to use a text book. But as pichu said, there are many informations on Internet!
I offen watch English-dubbed anime too. Of course I have memorized all alphabet a long time ago.
