The Essence of Wishes

I suppose this will have to do for now..~ Will probably expand on it for the Wow~

Spoiler: A Wish to Connect the Past and Future

Muffled steps within the distorted darkness.
I tread a new path where hundreds had gone before.
Small lights scatter throughout the clearing, their glow as that of the stars within the night.
Whispers call to those around as pleas, as wishes, as silly bits and pieces.
Voices mingle and meaning fades, as it all recedes to the back of my mind.
Some sit gently on my palm, a warmth with differs with each.
A few follow as I travel, their glow brightening to push away the engulfing darkness.
They guide me when I lose my way and slowly draw the darkness from within me.
My glow is now a concoction from all their own, even the ones only touched in passing.
Sadly even some of those who accompanied had since disappeared, leaving only a yearning to see them once more.
A desire to reciprocate the kindness that they had shown, long before.
When I look back to see the path I had taken, their warm glows still linger within my mind.

Thank you again everyone! Today's critique is just to see how much we have done and to see if there's any adjusting needed before the final critique. Seriously though, this installation was only two weeks. That is not a lot of time. xD (I'm laughing at the absurdity) Majority of people knew how short this project was and did things digitally or pasted objects together. Some others have more work - Example: There's a guy making a wired sculpture of a human (life-size)

I find it fascinating in the sense that you didn't install your piece. It's called "installation" for a reason, but it's still neat you and your class made something. Wish I can see those hands. Sounds so cool~

My wish kinda came true (even if it involved me completely re-writing all my code orz), so I blame your tree. Wish still applies though since the project itself isn't done yet.

Yeah I think the idea was that it was just to get students thinking along the lines of doing installation stuff. It was just a first year course, so most of the students would have been making crap anyway. :P

It's even worse than I remember. The deeper I am looking into my old stuff the more I am cringing. And to think that is probably what I'll have to go back to if I want to finally get decent at art down the road. :D
/me was never very happy with his art. Was trying to use art school to "git gud", but they were more interested in teaching me how to make up bullshit "meanings" for art than being a reasonably competent artist :P

Thank you everyone for your wishes. You don't know how happy I am to receive such personal and at times, light-hearted wishes.

My installation was a success! I hope more people will come and write their wishes in the next few weeks.

Spoiler: Wish Tree

When 28 April 2016 arrives, I'll take down the wish tags, put them in a box, and bury them like time capsule.

I also wrote everyone's wishes! Yes, your long piece was hand-written by me, Sam! I explained that writing them out enhances the meaning of the Wish Tree even further, becomes more personal, and you're more aware of the touch of paper and pen. In short, it kept it 'more real' and 'organic' than printing your wishes out.

Slightly Off-Topic: One of my classmate's installation was vandalized. It was a grey-scaled Donald Trump and Hitler poster/wall/graffiti art on a garage door. He showed us some pictures before it was taken down and it looked good! Had a pop art feel like those Monroes or soup cans repeated over and over with slight variation. I told him it was hilarious and that I wouldn't mind rallying the troops to get his art back or making some statement.

The guy making the wired sculpture was really amazing because he covered it in cloth and wrote 'Homeless' on it. Because it was life-size, people donated food and money. xD

Everyone's piece was great and interactive.
