Well i will try to let it simple and many kanjis as possible..
First i will introduze only Mahjong name
麻雀(まあじゃん=Mahjong) First kanji is 麻(あさ=Flax) Second Kanji 雀(すずめ=Sparrow)
The kanji 麻 is easy to remember if you already know these kanjis, 木、林、森.
It just add a 3 traces (麻). the another traces is all from 木. The signify is very easy to remember too.
Because (if you don't know),
木(き)=Tree
林(はやし)=Copse
麻(あさ)=Flax
森(もり)=Forest
ATTENTION
木 is different from 本
本(ほん)=Book Tip:本 is used for ほんとう(true)* as well. Is used many times this one.
Now The kanji 雀 Is 2 Kanjis merged.
The merged radicals are 少 and 隹
少=(Signify nothing alone but..) Manly used for
少女(しょうじょ)=Young Girl
女(おんあ)=Woman
隹=(Dont need to remember this one its from chinese alphabet, in japanese alphabet its only used "merged"(as radical) in kanjis like for example 雀 or 雉
And to finish
You can write 麻雀 in kataka alphabet as well (マージャン). Much easier lol

We only need to use 2 equipments to play マージャン, the tiles (136 in total), and 2 six-sided dices.
We will have 5 types of titles, ワンズ、ピンズ、ソーズ、風牌(かぜはい) and 三元牌(さんげんぱい).
The names in Katakana is to simplify the names for the tiles. Well don't need to remember for really but the kanjis is important to differ.
ワンズ will use numbers(seriously? i can't see any number!)。 Well in japan numbers are written in kanji as well(unfortunately)...
一(いち)=One
二(に)=Two
三(さん)=Three
四(よん)=Four
五(ご)=Five
六(ろく)=Six
七(しち)=Seven
八(はち)=Eight
九(きゅう)=Nine
十(じゅう)=Ten
The kanji bellow the numbers on the tiles ワンズ is 萬(まん)=10,000
hmm just for curiosity the kanjis for 100 and 1.000 are:
百(ひゃく)=Hundred
千(せん)=Thousand
________________________________________________________________________
Examples to howーtoーuse:
十七(じゅうしち or じゅうなな )=17
八十四(はちじゅうよん)=84
二百十(にひゃくじゅう)=210
千八百(せんはっぴゃく)=1,800
And there goes...
__________________________________________________________
Now for 風牌(かぜはい)=Wind Tile
風(かぜ)=Wind
牌(はい/ぱい)=Tile
東(ひがし)=East
南(みなみ)=South
西(にし)=West
北(きた)=North
四風牌(よんかぜはい)=Four Winds Tiles
(四風牌 Is metioned as スーフォンパイ in マージャン Matches)
________________________________________________________________________
And now the last kanjis for the 三元牌(さんげんぱい)=The three units tiles(Some people call as "dragon tiles"):
元(もとor げん)=もと signify Origin. But in マージャン you read as げん, Unit of currency in China.
發(はっする)=Ignite
中(ちゅう)=Medium
中 kanji is usually used as なか(Inside) in galge games.... lol i guess you can understand why.
