Man Trades Car For Toilet Paper
In one of the stranger events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Michigan resident Josh Canard has traded his 2007 Honda Accord for 500 rolls of toilet paper.
Panic buying and hoarding has led to severe shortages of necessary supplies like toilet paper. In some Michigan communities toilet paper cannot be found in stores. Black market toilet paper is selling for at least $10 per roll. This puts the street value of 500 rolls at $5,000.
Additionally, Michigan is under a State imposed "Stay At Home" order, which quarantines residents in their own homes, in isolation. People may only leave their homes for food and living supplies, banking services, medical emergencies, and beer runs. Violators face fines and jail time.
Asked about trading his car, Canard said, "Since I can't leave home, I need the toilet paper more than a car."
The unidentified person who traded the rolls had only one comment, "I got more TP, what's it worth to you?"
