Just found out that your fileserve links actually aren't dead like most other fileserve links around after the whole Megaupload fiasco. ^^b

Is there a no DVD patch for this game? It gives the usual message about no disc being in the drive and so it won't start the game. (and I've tried it with the image mounted)

I'm wondering the same thing. I made an account just to ask this. When the game is mounted an error in japanese states that the game can't be installed from a virtual drive. You can still fully install the game but when the exe is run, all that appears is a black screen. The same thing happens with the bonus disc. Even when I use a burned disc the same error appears. It's strange that the first game in the series has better copy protection than the other two. If anybody actually got this to run I'd appreciate finding out how.

Ok i figured out how to play this game on windows7 and probably vista...

after you install it (ignoring the message that says it doesn't work with virtual disk) click on the game start button that's on the installer. You should then have the window of the game open, with simply a black screen (unless you've applied the vista patch (?) dunno didn't try the patch yet), then press alt+shift+enter, and the game should begin. After that, you no longer need the disk to open the game

Okay, so now that trick is working weird. Sometimes when I press Shift+Alt+Enter it doesn't work, or I have to hold the buttons down until the title loads.

The shift-alt-enter trick works for a second, then I have to press it again and again to keep the screen moving. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Also it'd be great if someone could reupload because I could try and fresh save.

Hey Shinji103, I realize this is all super old, so that may not be of use, but I found that installing to the exact default location, then starting the game for the first time from the installer screen avoided the issues I was having the first time I installed it/ran the game initially from the .exe. I didn't need to hold any key commands during startup, just uninstalled it and then reinstalled and booted if for the first time straight from the installer menu - look for the ゲーム (game) kana followed by two kanji symbols. I'm running XP SP3, by the way. I hope this helps you if you're still having trouble.
