Since it took me a while to get this game running, and this seems to be the latest post of this game, I thought I would document my steps here for posterity:
(Before we begin, just a note: I do not run my system in Japanese locale, but instead use either Ntleas or Locale Emulator where appropriate. The below is written in this context.)
I've attached the needed files to this post just in case they become harder to obtain in the future.
A couple of final notes: Do not use the original NoDVD crack (for example, in girlcelly's post of this game from 2011), it's not compatible with the Win8 update patch. Ignore Win8WOH.zip that is mentioned elsewhere as a solution, I could not get it to work.
The specific problems I ran into that necessitated the above were "launcher not found" and "メディアが見つかりませんでした".

- Install the game
- Run setup.exe, do not just copy files from the disc image (setup seems to create a config file that is needed)
- Do not use Ntleas (or Locale Emulator, but that never works with installers). The text will be gibberish (if not on Japanese locale), but the installer will still work
- After the install location, the next option is choosing where savegame info is stored (if you installed to Program Files, I recommend against the option of storing in the game install directory)
- The last set of options I left checked, don't know if they're necessary
- Install the 1.1 patch

- You might just be able to run the .exe directly, but I open it in 7zip and copy the files manually into the game directory (I've had too many problems in the past with jp patch installers, so I do it this way whenever possible)
- Install the Windows 8+ x64 compatibility patch
- MechaCon_win8x64patch.zip: https://mirror.maidservant.org/arc/1932 (or attached below)
- As above, I opened with 7zip and manually copied files, but you may be able to just run the .exe directly
- The official links for this file ( https://onomatope.site/mecha_con/down.html ) appear to no longer work, hence the mirror
- Apply the crack
- Patcher-Build20121001.zip: http://www.anime-sharing.com/forum/...acter-song-cd-manual-[h-game]-[patch]-338931/ in attached files of first post (or attached below)
- This download will probably be blocked by Windows Defender, you will have to whitelist it (cracks always look like viruses, since they edit exe files)
- Run Cracker.exe, select the last checkbox only, then click the top button.
- Navigate to your game install and open "mecha_con_start.exe" (you will have to change "SigIus Engine" to "Exe file" in the lower right for it to show up)
- Select "No" when the popup box appears (You will know it worked if you see a file "mecha_con_start.exe.bak" appear in the game directory.)
- Repeat the above for "mecha_con_srp.exe", only this time select "Ok" when the popup box appears
- Run the game
- Run "mecha_con_start.exe" using Locale Emulator (if not on Japanese locale)
- The disc image needs to be mounted for the game to run (the above crack only removes copy protection, it's not a no-dvd crack, unfortunately)
- You can mount it using Windows built-in virtual cd by renaming "Mecha.mdf" to "Mecha.iso" and then double-clicking it
