Actually in a way it's a direct sequel since a character from Akatsuki no Goei actually shows up in this game albeit in a very different form. I think the timelapse between the two game are a few hundred years.

Yah, I'm still curious as to how the political situation would have resolved itself at the end of the 3rd Akatsuki game, for that matter, I wonder which one they took as canon. The fact that the pacing is wonderful and the humor is still there is just icing on the cake.

akatsuki no Goei was made by syangrila that was suceed by tigresoft that made Reminiscence so I see no problem
