Uh... i got same problem, but try to press TAB button until the pointer point in left bottom (but there isn't anything) and press ENTER, there you have it.

Just reporting that I had the exact same problem (no start button visible lol) as others on my Windows 7, even though my computer is Japanese OS, displaying Japanese (so 'Recycle Bin' = 'ごみ箱'), and my locale system is set to Japanese. As inf1n1t3 said, the quickest solution seems to be using the TAB button to manually navigate the game's buttons.
