Is this actually loosely based on historical fact? Very interesting if it is.
To be very cynical here, I have found personally that when someone turns into a whistle blower and brings attention to anything for hoping of a ban... they themselves are closet obsessive with the same thing and just want to be a white knight while keeping the object they are trying to ban for themselves.
Touche! on all your points.
The most cunning people though know that to deal with illegalities is to perform illegal stuff in plain view. You yourself never have to be seen in public. Just act the figure head and have minions do you your work indirectly.
Hmm... maybe I should try being like this one day. Totally evil and making lots of money while absolutely looking like a savior to the public! It must work. certain "gentlemen" do it every day :P
Ah yes, so desu. I still would't do it though, like showing it to my mother lol, or some person born in the 50s with meat and potatos and a glass of milk on the table and hard physical labor :p I don't think certain kinds or generations of people are able to understand, therefore I personally would rather just save myself the awkwardness. But you could choose something that they wont disagree with just to prove that theyre idiots for generalizing anime with two shows :/
haha I had a suspicion it was that...very funny you mentioned it, very strange indeed, cause when I came to the thread at first it was like as if for a moment I thought I was looking at myself, myself...:o rly odd how that association was so strongly linked to me that even I myself was a bit surprised.GenKiDan; Sorry, my bad! I think I just saw the picture of Yuno, and the forefront 'G' in glass noodles and thought it was you! XD
I found that a funny read ^^ not in a bad or rejective way.To be very cynical here, I have found personally that when someone turns into a whistle blower and brings attention to anything for hoping of a ban... they themselves are closet obsessive with the same thing and just want to be a white knight while keeping the object they are trying to ban for themselves.
Those guys are most certainly mastered. Their wording is complex enough that people will respect it, without most people realizing it is gibberish, and they have covered their bases as far as avoiding suing goes. You can't really shut them down when they make no claims.Okay.... I read that listing... and the reviews.... The people selling that thing.... "Master Bull-Shitters." The environmentalist engi is spot on.
The other people...... /me gets out a sword
Hurry before it spreads!
Now this is another way anything can get brought to the public, reviewed by courts and banned. Manipulation of the masses, lots and lots money.... then really just waiting for courts to reach a decision.
people never learn XD <_<

Some of the smarter people where I got this suggested that if this kind of trick wasn't inherently immoral, then they should develop a team to corner the market on these types of scams to fund themselves. Frankly I would be terrified to see what they might be able to accomplish, if they united for evil XD
their is nothing to be accomplished here, they not enough critical evidence. If violent games haven't been banned yet, anime won't be anytime soon.
The conversation has digressed, I'm afraid. That post wasn't about anime banning at all. :P
I was just having fun reading the replies. One thing I noticed is the general increased cynicism to this kind of grandstanding nowadays. Sure, the petition itself is old (not that it'd matter much anyway even if it were recent and accomplished 100k signatures -- the site isn't an officially-sanctioned soapbox venue), but I recall reading something similar a couple years ago on a similar topic with a similar nature. At that time, many people were like "oh noes plzplzplz don't take away my Chinese cartoons."Ignis, c'mon and post already. :P
