After SOPA, comes ACTA

ACTA actually has been proposed long time ago but almost not all country (even NATO) approved it yet. ACTA is proposed to support free trade area in some countries.

The problem of ACTA is actually not for internet world only but the problem is ACTA will make strong country (you can see this which country signed the ACTA and which country did not sign the ACTA) with a lot of copyright/product/company become stronger while weak country (most of ASEAN, Middle Asia, Africa) get weaker and weaker (they can only be a consumer).

By my opinion, I doubt that the "economical power" has to do to the freedom of humans rights and the internet. The "power" that is shown by the ACTA is just merely an act to maintain the control without hesitate themselves to see their consequence. You might wonder why many revolution started around the world due to the fragile control of law for the ridiculous cause. Modesty is the only key to bring the chaos down, and what SOPA and ACTA did is extremely radical and neither of "strong and the weak" prevail just because of this idiotic matter.

Although it sure may protect the works so there are no "media duplicates and cloning" to gain the profit, yet it doesn't mean freedom robbed away from the people. Think about a metaphor of being thrown into jail just because the poor family status really makes you wonder what does the system doing and loop is almost everywhere. Never trust conspiracy....

But I'm happy to know that Japan, Korea and China does not support or approve of those bills as of this moment.

Now, if only the rest of Asia would also just join hands to the fight....

Ein could you make another signature says "freedom for internet" let us make it another campaign! since the SOPA and PIPA has successfully suspended!

actually... if they really want to prevent piracy, the answer was quite simple... they should've stop writer distribution such as DVD-RW... im sure there'll be no more piracy! :XD:

I was kinda thinking of that at the moment since SOPA and PIPA bills are suspended.

I'll just make a new thread when I'm done.

Hell, if they still can't stop traditional pirating activity, like those Somali's pirate, which have exist more than 400 years, what make you think they can stop Internet pirates?

well before DVD-RW or CD-RW were created, the piracy of these goods were minimum. i know since i've been lurking in the net since 1991. at that time we are forced to have the original since we can't back it up. and disc drive only fit 1.44MB... while a CD sometimes contain 50-100MB at that time!
if we can't backep up our data, that'll means either we bought a new hard drive or buying the originals
:XD:

but then again, stopping writer distribution will be a big minus to cyber technology and the hardware industry

Back in floppy disk(5") era, my cousin bought a bootlegged PC games. 1 game usually required 5-6 diskettes.
I used to trade VHS *porn* tapes between my classmates back then, and all of them are not original tapes.
Heck, back in my mom's school day, people can pick any songs they like, and have them 'burn' into the 45rpm(slightly bigger than todays' CD) record plate, at the local music store.
People will find ways to get what they want, legally or not.

Wow.... VHS and 5.1" floppy disks...

I was still just a single-celled organism during those times...
Gahahahahahaha!!!!

like i said... it'll be minimized... since most people wont be able to trade it in the net any longer! unless they have thousands of TB space

Yeah back to before the era of LAN/NET become common. You can only copy a file if you meet the person him/herself (which is harder). Which will minimize pirated software distribution.

I remember reading about ACTA, I think around the same time a certain Japan governor was trying to ban school uniforms in my 2d. ACTA is close to passing? The ninjas... I hardly heard any coverage after the initial announce.

Well the problem is ACTA is like, yeah you can say, a ninja. Silently but deadly. I last heard ACTA around 2010 and luckily only around 6 or 8 (maybe less) countries that signed the draft at that moment (yeah you know which country signed it); FYI: ACTA draft is from 2008. And after that there is no news (it is like the draft still discussed but secretly). The last draft has indication that ACTA will almost the same like SOPA and PIPA but worst.

Civilization as we know it is leaning towards destruction...2012 will be a dark year, my friends...perhaps the very last year for human freedoms.

Uh what ? Arrested for legally buying ?

Oh well, we need a bigger prison now, maybe a whole Europe or US size.

watch the youtube link and you'll understand completely how dangerous it is... and yes either bigger prison is build, or the death of internet... you choose!

Didn't Japan already signed the ACTA treaty?

Japan is the country who created this madness. But ofc, Japan has the most disastrous copyright law out of all developed country.
