While I mostly agree with you, but I think there are different kind of people. Even from other people's POV, they can hardly believe there are people like us that can get off from NTR. There are even parents that rape their own children in reality, and that happens everyday. So I don't think it's that far off to think there are women get off from NTR situation. Of course what i mean is NTR with full consent of the women. I don't think anyone would want to be raped, not even men. And I'm sure they are minority, niche like us :D
For men i think netori is far more common compared to netorare in reality. I even have several friends that like doing that, Even to his friend's gf. When i asked him why did he do it even though she already has boyfriend, he said "that's what makes it so good". Just like a villain in NTR VN. But of course they only did it with unmarried couples. It takes a devil to be willing to ruin other people's family for his pleasure.
Yeah, well I was never saying it was an absolute rule no matter how it sounded. In fact I can't stand narrow minded views that say 'this is how things are and anyone who thinks differently is mistaken or stupid', I actually consider myself a rather broad-minded person. It's on of the reasons I don't really go for religion.
So yeah there are probably exceptions and there are definitely women who get off on cheating and being stolen by some tall, dark bad boy. It's not uncommon. There are also plenty of women who get off on stealing over women's men and there's even a trend in japan for women who frequently end up being involved with married men who have no intention of leaving their wives, and japanese wives often take it as a given that her husband will have a mistress and will turn a blind eye so long as she's sure he's still committed to their marriage.
But it is very unusual to find a woman who is willing to admit she likes or is willing to do such things, not to other people and sometimes not even to herself. Hence why they don't want to identify with a heroine in an NTR work who is actually doing such things.
There's also a small sub-genre in NTR often called Reverse-NTR where it focuses on a woman being cheated on by her partner. Though there are only a few Reverse-NTR eroge and manga that explicitly focus on a heroine who get aroused by her man playing around with other women, I have seen a few. And technically there are countless ero anime/manga/eroge that shows guys getting to have sex with multiple women even when they have a main love interest, so there could easily be female readers who are getting off on the idea of the guy she likes doing it with another woman in front of her while reading such works. Certainly shoujo/josei works very commonly show situation where a man is unfaithful so it not like many women need to look for porn about it. Though it's probably a genre that appeals most to masochistic/sub women.
Again though, not a fetish most women would admit to having.
Like I said though, all my own opinion and I'm more than broad-minded enough to admit I may be wrong if someone has a reasonable argument against.
ABout School Days, i heard many things about that game, is it any good ? How does it compare to the anime? I've watched the anime. Is there any netorare scenario as the consequences for what he did?
Depends on your tastes since it's rather controversial. The anime is based on the game, but from what I hear they cut a lot of the character development out for the main character. In the anime the protag is a self-centred, spineless jerk from start to finish, while the game shows a better progression from a reasonable decent if mediocre and not very strong willed protagonist to being morally degenerate, which may be as much due to the manipulation and influence of those around him as his own failings. There's no mistake that he does a lot of horrible things by the later stages of the game though.
What makes it interesting is that it's a ruthless deconstruction of the love sim genre which generally show a unimpressive male protag surrounded by attractive heroines who are inexplicably attracted to him or will be should you just trip the right flags, and after deciding on which heroine to target the others just fade into the background without any negative consequences. Plus in the eroge genre that includes sex, many even allow you to pursue sex with other heroines before settling on which one's route you're going to follow and again, the others just fade back without any negative results simply accepting that they weren't the one's chosen.
School Days took players which such preconceptions who played the game without any thought for anything but getting as many sex scenes with as many heroine's as possible, and gave them a great big sucker-punch in the nuts. Shockingly the heroine's you mess around with and then abandon in favour of another heroine actually take it badly. Sometimes very very badly. To the point of mentally scarring poor players who were expecting a light hearted school romance VN. Who often ended up raging and hating it, leading to some negative press. They even used that moe-blob art style to lull you into a false sense of security so you don't see it turning dark as pitch towards the end. But if you could handle the last episode of the anime without being traumatised, then you should know the game is better and more disturbing than the anime was. The anime might have spoiled some of the story, but it's still worth playing. Especially if you like both school romance and dark or even brutal themes.
As for NTR, there aren't any proper NTR routes. But some NTR developments do appear as a result of your choices, if not what we would call proper NTR. You'll might get some kick out of it, if not the pure NTR feeling.
Of course it's been a while since i played it, so if I'm remembering wrong someone please correct me.
