Are Otome Games popular in your area?

its hard to find someone with same interest here,
so far, I only find 2 people who like Anime and Manga when I was at High School,

Russia (where I'm from): 4 girls, of which two are admins of an otome forum and the other two my best friends. And latte pair and me got into otome together and still love talking about it.

Germany (where I'm currently at): No one.

As for the school I'm in... 100% play games, 90% watch anime and no one plays otome. But I told some of them about otoge. Because their favorite manga/anime are based on otome and showed some artbooks. They were like AWWW SO AWESOME and NOOO, WHY CAN'T I READ THIS!

so... it's mostly the language, that's the problem.

For otome games I'm all alone, maybe two or three people play Hakuouki on 3DS, nothing more.
But It's diferent with bl games, a lot of people around me play bl on pc, it's a big surprise. (I love it too, but poor otome games u.u)

Not really. At least not anyone I know who plays them in either PSP or PC. I've never met anyone in real life who likes them other than my best friend. Which is probably a good thing most of the time because there's this online store based in our city and whenever they get their hands on otome stuff like magazines (Pash! mostly, and artbooks like Hakuouki and UtaPri), I am able to purchase them from their store during conventions (which takes months in between) without worrying other people might get them before me.


And besides, even if otome games get really popular in my country, I don't think I'd be able to interact with them, seeing as I'm really an introvert in real life and I'll only be having trouble with speaking with them when the time comes.

No. Out of the people I know only one person ever tried studying Japanese and two actually knew what otome games are before I explained them.
As for anime, it's fairly popular in Poland, I wouldn't call it crazy popular but I can easily order DVDs from a few shops. But Otome games? I don't know a single shop that would help import them, so my only option is expensive importing on my own.

I don't know T^T because it's hard to say with my friend in same class that I like to play otome game. They will think I am an otaku (they don't know the true meaning of this word). In my country, it hard to find someone play this kind of game because many games are Japanese.

Sadly many girls in my animeclub in high school does not know about visual novel and does not know about otome games. T^T They only know about yaoi manga and anime.... Nonetheless, I wished little tokyo in LA sell otome games.

So, are you girls doing something to make it popular? As for me, I'm trying to persuade my friends with the artwork and music, but yeah most of them decline it because the game are in Japanese :(
Maybe you can share your method to make someone interested to play otome game?

I'd say it's not. Then again, I can't say for sure, since I'm under the impression that not many people openly admit to enjoying anime-stylistically (anime is for Wapanese geeks! Stereotype!) illustrated visual novels (All VNs are porn! Hentai nerd stereotype) in which dating (dating games are for desperate losers! Stereotype) is a key goal IRL.

No :( Most of the people I know never even heard the name otome game... Anime and manga became recently a bit popular, but there is still a far way ahead before VN/otome gain popularity. Small amount of games in english and very little number of people who know Japanese are making things more difficut.

In a country. I will say that otome isn't very popular, but there are people who play and are passionate about otome. In my area otome isn't popular. Maybe people are masked and not speak out loud as I about it?
There are many people who watch anime, and a little less people who know about the manga.
I only know two people in persone who shared my love to otome. But recently she and he likes to play in yaoi only.

I don't know anyone who play otome games. I did manage to get my friend to watch a let's play of Always Remember Me, she liked it but won't play them herself lolz.

VN fans are already hard to find here so of course, I can only name 3 of my friends who know otome games. But they don't know other games that don't involve Voltage/mobile otome and Pacthesis dating sims though. (^^;; )

Nope. Only a few are interested because VN in general tend to make my friends sleepy. And then, most of my female otaku friends are turning fujoshi.

Nope. Sadly I haven't even met one around here. I've tried convincing my bestfriend, she just won't budge, but she did try Voltage Inc's Enchanted in the Moonlight, seems like it wasn't enough to convince her. Though I have a lot of friends who are into anime, they think that VN is time consuming and not that worth it.

There is a small group of folks here who like otome games, but mostly it's regular VNs aimed towards guys that is popular in the general anime community here. Which is a bummer because I love seeing handsome boy goodies (like figures or art books) but rarely do I find any! Lots of girly girls though!

In my area, there are some who watch anime, read manga but no fellow Otome gamer or even VN gamer. They don't even know what Otome and VNs are. And when I try to explain it to them, they said it is too time consuming and they'd rather watch it in anime. Sad life T_T

I explain it to my friends that not true. At first they didn't trust me, so I showed them what is otome by playing Amnesia. Now they understand. It was very tried.
