Holy Edo, anime fans, this is for real!

The anime, Batman Ninja, is scheduled to be released in about a month!

Batman Ninja (ニンジャバットマン Ninja Battoman) is an upcoming Japanese animated period martial arts superhero film directed by Junpei Mizusaki and produced by Warner Bros., which features the DC Comics character Batman. Takashi Okazaki, the creator of Afro Samurai, is the character designer for the film. The first poster was revealed on October 5, 2017, and the trailers were released later on December 1, 2017. It is scheduled in the United States for a digital release on April 24, 2018 and a physical release on May 8, 2018, and in Japan for a theatrical release on June 15, 2018.

Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd's time displacement machine transports many of Batman's worst enemies to Feudal Japan – along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies – including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family – to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.

Some of the best anime makers did the project.

The trailer blows me away!

I MUST see it! :chuuni_doki:

edit: It's kind of ironic that not long ago I did an April Fools joke about Westernized anime. I guess the joke was on me! ;)

Oh Gawd!(-_-)
What next.. Geisha Deadpool??

I kinda miss the old, dark Batman - The Animated Series with its art deco style and film noir aesthetics.

Finally got to see Batman Ninja!

An incredible collaboration between Japanese anime and Western animation. A fine example of what can be done, when it's done right!

Great story, artwork, and action scenes! The final fight scenes were epic!

Although, the Transformer castle was a bit over-the-top!

Batman Ninja is a must see!

Same for me.

I don't like recent depiction of Batman in media but this time it's our same old Bat doing trying to do what he should do if he was suddently throw in the middle of sengoku era.

The only think that bug me is when Batman learn about ninja's technic. I mean, he use Batarang like shuriken, use smoke grenade, spy in the shadow, etc... Batman is a Ninja from the start.

Selina :blushhappy:

This was epic in every sense of the word. Yes, it goes totally off the rails at one point (You know which part - Gattai!), but the way it incorporates the Batman universe with Sengoku themes is pure gold. From 2-face flipping a mon, Penguin paraphrasing Shingen's famous motto, Grodd as Toyotomi (who's nickname IRL was "monkey"), Bane as a rikishi, etc etc it was just fun to see all those references.

For those watching in both English and Japanese there's an interesting Kotaku article that explains the difference between how Western & Japanese animation is made, i.e. Western writes all dialogue first while JP does the animation first, and this is why the vocal tracks for this film are so drastically different. The story is generally the same but there is a LOT more talking in the English track.

A+ in my books!
