Taking pictures is also a great alternative when working from something. I remember my teacher always telling me to take a picture of something I'm holding if I were to draw it as its impossible for the hand to remain still. Also its harder to always be looking from the same perspective when trying to draw something free style.

Hmm yes but the problem with pictures is that it doesnt capture the colors and values like the human eye~ It cant differentiate as much as a person can by just looking~

I mostly draw from memory...~ Stare at it for 5-10 minutes or less, draw, and forget the rest.

Some people use tracing paper as well to help them. Find a picture from a magazine or something, then trace what you want.

Hmm it helps if you can visualize the image in your head to some degree~

Or just draw the head without much concern for the rest of the body if you feel uneasy about it.

That's some talent if you're able to visualise the image and then draw.

Some people have the ability to draw like when a person is able to look at the computer screen and type at the same time. Not sure if that helps you in any way but my illustration teacher was able to do this.

Hmm that means that they sorta just know where all the keys are due to repeatedly typing the same things xD Hmm well imagination... people do draw from it~ and it helps of you understand the structure and everything~

well, the truth is, I've known this site for some time because my friend (who was once an active member of this forum). He used to show me your conversations and how much fun you guys were having. And I've seen almost all of the active members in this forum (especially sam ;">) posting some stuff. And me and my friend really had a great time browsing through the threads ^^.
