I'm 30, I've been in 2 serious relationships filled with love, dated a handful of women throughout my life and have enjoyed anime since my very first taste of hentai back in the 90's with a PC game called Metal & Lace...a hentai game that didn't even have sex.

Whats more harrowing is the connection of sex with my partners vs growing up with hentai.

I crave sex with a real women as any healthy male would, but have always found it to be more akin to physical (though stimulating) exercise vs anything I've "experienced" in my imagination of what sex should be like...based on hentai. Yes hentai.

So how can this be? Can imagination be better then the real physical touch of your partner?

For me I believe the answer can partly be found in the fact that I was exposed to hentai when I was developing sexually as a pre-teen and (AND not understanding a line of japanese) my mind would create a cerebral imaginative sexual experiences that "real life" would never be able to live up to from a combination of perfect artistic visuals and imagination.

That said, I've been disappointed with hentai many - MANY times. I've put hours into a game only to come to a point where the story went into a direction I hate, left me wanting or felt completely missed an amazing erotic direction I had expected it CLEARLY was going before completely dropping the ball.

So whats my point? I love hentai and I hate hentai. Its ironically made the real thing better and I've taken ideas (positions, situations, ideas, ect) from hentai and added them to my real life sexual repertoire - with positive results - especially and IRONICALLY more so for my female partners...making me wonder if physically, women get more stimulation overall from sex then men do...but that's another topic...

Still I can thank hentai for expanding my mind in the bedroom...

Ironically (and has hard as this might be to believe) playing hentai has developed me to become a better judge of character when I meet females...because ironically (at a very base level) humans ARE easily categorized like anime character archetypes.

I'm a little older now then I was ten years ago, a little wiser. I know that one cannot replace the other but as I get older hentai has only aged for the better. Can I say the same about my age group?

Is hentai here to stay for me? Oh yeah...and yet I don't like picturing myself sitting at home playing hentai games 10 years from now...or god 20 years from now. It just seems wrong in some way until I realize I certainly won't be alone considering all the men in Japan that already do or will.

Still its made me realize that as you grow older...well growing old sucks and in so many new ways ever few year lol.

One thing I`d like to add was how powerful love and intimacy is in the making love - which can make those real carnal moments more enjoyable to - something I never learned from hentai but real life.

As for sex vs. hentai...well maybe I just haven't met the right girl with the right sexual chemistry yet.

Hentai is basically erotic anime, and anime generally doesn't adhere to real life expectations, so it's no surprise that it'd be a let-down. It's like the school-life setting, where it may seem much more exciting at first, but if you were to actually go to a Japanese school, you'd probably burn-out / be bored the next day. That is, if you don't already go to one.

Just like many other things in life, there's your good hentai, and then there's your fair share of bad hentai. You just have to find the right ones.

Maybe what you're missing is love, considering your history. Overall, most hentai aren't even about love as opposed to pure lust.

Actually I`ve never known sex without love, if anything I`ve never known sex for lust. Sure I`ve lusted after my girlfriend but its never been that beastial love that drives strangers together in a club bathroom - thought truth be told I`d never do that anyway. Gross.

Admittedly I have had my share of boredom from hentai. I went away from the otaku scene a couple of years ago to be occupied in real life, but here I am again enjoying what I supposedly left behind back then. Yeah, real life relationship was actually pretty awesome, but doesn't mean it completely ruined hentai for me, just as hentai never ruined material touch. When I'm 40 I'll be playing/watching hentai to satisfy my "deviant" fetishes that my wife probably won't know about and will likely judge me for it. But if that's the price I have to pay for stepping foot into this territory of erotic awesomeness so be it.

While I've never had any "real sex"(one with a partner), I believe it to offer a deeper sense of satisfaction than simply sexual pleasure - an emotional connection?... or something like that... Of course there are also a bunch of negative things like insecurity or whatever, depending on each person.

No, none of my ex's like anime - they don't dislike but it doesn't turn them on in anyway. I haven't actually watched too much hentai anime these days either, I find I enjoy visual novels more often then not now. As far as I know trough my roaming around on the net, I heard that Japanese men now tend to idolize 2D while making real women a bitches.

Hentai and RL should really never be compared. First of all, Hentai is mostly "perfect" or "near-perfect". At least there are cases which it can completely satisfy every craving for each individual's fantasies regarding the matter thus, it cannot be compared to real-life experiences. You just cannot always win nor take control of everything here in our side.

I guess its just your personal experiences that led you to your current assumptions. Think about it, do you think all women in the world are like that? How about the happy couples living together out there for a long time?

I myself am watching animated material for god knows how long, probably about 20-22 years now or more, started as a child when there were cartoons in my local tv, like Yattaman, Captain Tsubasa, General Daimos and others.
Yet when I see people claiming *waifus* on net, I'm like "Dude WTF how can you people treat 10101's as real people", but I mostly leave it to my *racists* <- (dunno if correct word for this case) nature.
