Hongfire offline?

Probably the best time to use HF until problems are solved would be sometime late at night (24:00) through early morning (08:00). Time zones will vary on your location so I would base this off JPT(Japan Standard Time) more than anything.

Using that with time zone clock as your medium base to work with BST(Bejing Standard Time) and PST(Pacific Standard Time) you might come up with the best time to browse HF since the traffic will be at the lowest.

I did notice another thing with HF and I am not sure if I am imagining things or if this has occurred with someone else and they also noticed it as well. Seems to me but I think you get a browsing experience from NOT logging into HF at the moment. The past several times I was able to go to HF, I had a better experience by not logging in which sucks because I like to discuss things, update certain areas, throw my two cents in and give much needed thanks and credit to those on there.

Not saying that it is like that always with not logging in, but more than a few times it seemed to have responded better. Anyway, I hope things improve.

Notice the same thing , but strange with the publicity removed from logging in... Unstable and not very logical those days.:(

Holy fucking shit......is exactly the way HF is right now. My god, a few seconds at best, sometimes a couple of minutes. I can't even get thru a trying to post or update anything before it crashes. Like half way thru and poop.....

well how could you update anything with this crap going on anyway? update would be there asap but HF is super shit on its connectivity right now. Only time that it has been worse is during the cyber attack when it was shutdown.

Eh, HF has too many technical problems to be revived at this point.., I thought they were dead for awhile now, how come their weblink still works is a wonder to me :o
many of their download links are broken /outdated too

Just stay with AS forums, one of the nicer places on da 'net :D

It has both the full update 9/30(500mb) and the patch update from the prior update 9/23 to 9/30(20mb)

It was predictable. And, personally, I don't see HF recovering any time soon, as I explained in this post :

Now, the biggest issue is that this situation may last.

Modders want to access the site to upload their works. Players want to access the site to get their translations and uncensors. They won't suddenly disappear nor change their mind : they will simply force-refresh the board until it displays something (which is nothing, actually) then check the site again a couple hours later for new content, like they always did.

And thus, a wild paradox appears : in order to access Hongfire, we need to wait until people don't want to access Hongfire any more. And when that time will come, would you still want to access it ? Would you still want to upload your mods knowing that their audience is never going to be what it should be, since they'll become unavailable as soon as there's a bit of traffic ?

That's how life is : at the end of it, things will die. And I believe HF is reaching its end (in fact, it's been a zombie-board since a good while).

I won't update the Honey Select thread on HF. At this point, it would require some drastic changes for me to go back there and maintain a release thread.

Especially since I'm fine being on AS. We have a nice community and a helpful staff. And I'm actually part of this staff now, and I'm trying to help the modding crowd to settle for a new home here.

Crazy as that may be, but so far when I visit it, I am not logging in and I can access it. It sucks though, you can't do what you would be able to normally do as whatever type of member you are in HF since you can't log in.

No access to upload pics, vids, stories, mods, data files, update blogs, bullshit with other members, etc......

SO yeah, you can go to HF and view it as a ghost, but that is not much of anything. How can one properly use the site and interact with it if you cannot log in on command and have to wait 5minutes to 10minutes to 30minutes to a couple hours or more. Being a ghost doesn't make the community better or give due credit where needed, especially for those that do solid work there for everyone and for free. The community deserves better.

I do hope it recovers, but who knows when that will be exactly. Until then AS has been very solid and more than likely will continue to be solid. Now I am not saying to completely abandon HF, but everyone that uses, does, and/ mediates any type of interaction with it should come over here so we can continue to have an awesome friendly strong community.

For now a lot of us already have adapted AS as a secondary, some as a primary, either way we need to hope for best but prepare for what might need to happen or will happen.

i'm already posting my mods primarily here, and at hongfire when possible, but with no hurries, if it depended on me i'd be only here, but there's still some important mods that people post only at hongfire like patches, uncensors, translations, and that's the only thing that still keeps me logging there from time to time

Yeah it still has its problems. I was on there earlier today for a brief moment, it seemed pretty good to work while I was not logged in, so I logged in and did a quick thing and then logged out.

It seems to me that it works better to not be logged in if you just need to look at something or possible see if there are new updates/mods. On the other hand, if you need to log in it can be a crap shoot of the connectivity with the site. Now that doesn't mean you won't get a bad connection with not being logged in. It can go either way still, but seems more of the time you get a better connection without logging in.

Yeah I haven't seen or talked to Hong in a long time. I think last time I spoke with him was in early August or late July. I do hope Hong is ok and everything is fine.

Probably true, Dr Yoshi have a great insight on this. I did manage to connect and the new lay out is one of the skin already available, the Asphalt light. Probably part of the update. The other skins will probably be added in the future. The good news is, someone still working on the site! Wish them well and I'll still be watching.
