I'm trying to find a ps3 game...

game had 1 playable characters. boy with sword, had a side collection-a-thon with cards (irrelevant to any quests or reward, just some treasure collecting for the sake of collecting) based on the enemy monsters; I think the last card was more or less unobtainable as when you beat the final boss (his/her card) after the credits you'd just be back at the title where you can reload the save before beating the boss., and there was no way to have an actual save with the last card. can't remember if there was a bad guy named asura or if it was a special skill of the final boss or the protagonist. there was a spider like boss as one of the prior mid bosses that I vaguely remember... game was in 3d.

at least I don't remember ever finding a way to actually have the last card...

That sounds like a 3D action-adventure game block blast 2with card collecting and a boy protagonist with a sword. The final card seems unobtainable due to the end-game save mechanics. The mention of Asura and a spider-like mid-boss might help identify it. Any idea which console it was on?
