IMGUR bans sites using certain criteria (featuring piracy, porn, etc.) and we're among them. After the ban, using IMGUR links on AS was no longer possible and detrimental to the user experience—after all, only the poster could see them. Despite that some people continued using IMGUR, so the host was banned from our side as well.Oh that's interesting. I wonder why that happened.

The solution is to use another image host, one without such restrictions. Reuploading an image is easy and most hosts even allow you to do so based on an URL. Vote with your feet: if IMGUR's idealogies are not compatible with your own, don't support them.
