Although it's funny how plate armor breaks into pieces better than an armored leotard.

lol, the first thing that makes me think of is: if an explosion blasts off your shirt - armored or not - you are dead, son.

And that's why the anime world (or in this case, VN world) is awesome. Explosions don't necessarily kill people, they can just make you proudly shirtless.
