Haha, maybe some day! I'll be the one to go crazy and lock everyone in the game, though. :evillaugh:

It should be pretty fun, because the job I chose is actually with the university, so it's straight up research and making prototypes as fast as possible, rather than building one thing. Should give me lots of experience.

Things like the "Personal Cockpit" were what got me interested in the first place. Looks like they have a lot of cool equipment, and are making some really cool stuff with it. My interview was done under a bunch of motion tracking cameras, they had a stage with several projectors off to the side, and apparently they also have a 3D printer and things like that. Lots of cool stuff to make things with.

Interesting. A friend of mine is researching on non-traditional modes of computer interaction as well. Interesting idea but I still feel that the traditional keyboard and mouse is the best

I completely agree for normal computing keyboard and mouse won't be beat for some time. However, there are tons of other applications where having the other methods is insanely helpful. I've seen VR being used to teach workers how to operate a crane, for example. They get the experience of operating the thing and learning how to use it without putting hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment at risk (or cost/space to operate).

Everything is pretty exciting right now, since everyone is trying to find clever ways to use the new technologies.

Yes that's true, VR can come in handy for training,

Things are exciting, but sometimes I still think it scary how fast things happen.

One of the things we discussed in my interview for this job was that since it is a research and dev position, it's kind of a race. You have to have ideas, make prototypes, and publish results, before someone else has the same/too similar idea and puts up their own thing. That's what's making it move so quickly, since everyone is racing each other to find new applications or data. If there are teams all over the world looking at each other's papers and results and building off of them to make their own improvements, things are going to move pretty quickly. :)

Honestly it reminds me a bit of games (which I brought up in my interview, actually) with how everything was 2D, and then suddenly technology allowed 3D models and designs to become a household thing with the N64-ish era of consoles. Suddenly everyone had this new technology to work with, and everyone wanted to find clever new ways to use it, so you had a lot of interesting and creative things happening (while now it is normally just bumping up graphic specs). With VR, this is kind of happening all over again, and there is an even larger base of experts working with the tech.

I can this in a short set describe: Evolution - This term hasn't more just at lively objects (Humans/animals and plants) validity, but also in the technology area approval found.:goodtea:

Well then I'd better start work on realising an idea of mine before someone else comes along and thinks of it!
