Thanks, in fact, I was not sure what are they good for,
because if someone want's to send me a message, then
that can be done with a PM, and if we discuss something
that can be done in a new or existing thread.

Well, whatever, I guess anyone can just post anywhere anyway anything
until moderators do not get angry. :D

The main difference between VMs and PMs is the PMs are private communiques and VMs are public, kind of like a bulletin board.
