I do not plan on taking any role, but if I were to choose which position I would like: It would be Moderator, AST and ASL.

I don't think moderator would have much to do, but you have to be on the forum often. AST, depending on what task you want, is probably the busiest job. (ask frank?) asl depends on lots of things. The normal job is getting a lossless file (wav, tta with cue, etc.) You tag the songs and romanize them, and you convert to flac and mp3. After that, you make blog posts, torrents, and forum posts. Once you get some practice, it could take around an hour to do. (depends on the file sizes~) I've made so many odd mistakes, you could think of me as a blonde XD

lol~ Maybe I can help you decide~ Also, if this is right, I heard that you can have 2 positions at the same time, so long as you're able to without problems.

btw, the requirements of being an AST for translating Japanese is pretty high. Soo~ you need to be at an intermediate level pretty much. I gave up on that for now lol.

Soo think of a job like this: you are a mod, ASL and AST at the same time. There are two people fighting on the forum, 2 ripping jobs you need to finish, and about 2,000 words for you to translate~ Which order do you do these jobs and why?

Here's another~ There's no mod work needed atm. You're ahead in your translations, but there's still some left to do. and you've completed you ASL jobs, but some are still available.

Mistakes are made by everyone sometimes~ from 1-10 (10 being the worst), rate how you would feel making these mistakes:

You made several errors in a translation that threw the rest of the staff off, until an admin fixed it.
You released an album that was considered as complete by others, but the next day it was discovered to have several flaws.
You and another mod disagree on how to deal with an issue on the forum, until an admin steps in to take action.

You get back from a long vacation, but your deadlines are due for album releases and translations. You're a little tired, so you'll do one job today, and another the next day. Which one will you do first?

Keep the two because more than two jobs = no free time.

anyways~ It sounds like you're pretty interested in being a mod, but also want something productive to do while enjoying yourself.
For either ASL or AST, you have to stay for 2 months before changing wtv job you have. So learn as much as you can about them before applying. You can see some more info here. Don't forget to check the blogs above for more info.

Soo I have a recommendation: talk to the admins via IRC, and ask for some examples of translation work. You can also ask them in an application if you'd like, but irc is usually easier. If you think you can do AST, give it a try~ If not, you could easily pick up ASL.
If you want to sorta take part in music work, there are ways you can help without being a staff, which you can also ask about~

I was very confused with IRC too.. especially with the windows one :f

First and foremost, find an IRC client that you like, then look for a tutorial on how to set it up. Most people like a patched version of mirc, but there's other ones as well.

As for channels, just think of it as chat rooms. There's certain people that can be in each channel. There's the bot channels for downloads, and the main AS channel where anyone can join, and the staff channels. The ASL and AST have separate channels, but can still talk on the main.

to explain a bit more: There like a server to host all of those channels. The one we use is irc.rizon.net Under that will branch our channels, and many more across the world. However, you have to know what the channel name is to join, or be invited by a mod to join.

Granted, the irc guide here isn't very... simple to understand :f
