Some hours away before the Asian Water Festival commences. Used to be called Khmer Water Festival...

The Water Festival is a yearly event.

I usually don't like to go because the festival lost most of its initial meaning.

It is mostly about making money now. The food is bland and the performances don't have much energy or they didn't practice enough.

I'm going this year because of *drumroll* my mother.

Hmm well thats most festivals after the first couple years... latter generations forget or dont understand quite as well...

You're right about that aspect. They perform traditional dances, but it lacks enthusiasm or even motivation.

For the newer generation and visitors, they won't notice too much.

Also, the boat races aren't as fun as before. =_=
