Yes they did. That is the most common reason to get new players. :)

Is go tough to learn?

Learning how to play is very easy, but one of the reasons it is a fun game is that getting really good takes a lot of work.

If you know about the kyu-dan system from martial arts, it is also used here. Where one rank of difference suggests you could give your opponent one free move and still have an even game.

Since whenever I joined that site. I can't check right now, but I'd guess close to 7 years. That said, it isn't like I've been trying to get better for very much of that time, so I've probably been slowly getting worse the last little while. :P

Just so you know, turn-based is a horrible way to learn. It is how I did it initially, and I would strongly not recommend it XD
Play real-time for your first several games, or you are just wasting everyone's time :P

It is nice for relaxed games later on. Learning on it is just frustrating.
