Really depends on the job. A military job probably wouldn't be significantly different than a company job. Wages may tend to be worse though, whereas I would be more likely to decline.
war ethics are war ethics. I will probably never encounter them, and it seems unproductive to hypothesize about them. Too many edge cases anyways.
I see... But this the last thinking from me... Well, what is if you in a "normal" software company work would: Where on the outlook after a usually programming work seems - BUT on the end nevertheless the military/government sticks: What they the hard worked works from you take would, and at their goals use would.
Then it means I probably wrote some very good code with a wide range of applications. I may likely also get paid extra for them using it.
Yeah, you'd then really some extra money get (even if without your clue that by this few codes some innocent victims damaged was)... - But this is just a thought...~>
There is not really any good reason for me to feel bad about unintended consequences of someone re-purposing my creations. The manufacturer of baseball bats intends it to be used to play baseball. I don't think they feel that bad or responsible for people using them as weapon, on rare occasion. Feeling responsible doesn't seem rational, especially as war ethics still apply (unless you believe that the government is evil and irresponsible as a rule, then the war ethics may not apply).
