I normally justify purchases as a utility of how much enjoyment I will get out of them vs how long it took me to earn that money. :P
So then I get something like this:
1 vol of manga on sale for ~$6 -> will take me about 30min-1hr to read, and there is a decent chance I will read it again. I make much more than $6 an hour, so it is probably a good buy!
$1100 laptop -> Will spend on average 5 hours a week day during school weeks -> that is a freaking long time -> good buy!
