Leggy tries to make FinalPyre explode. It is only mildly effective.



The timeslot is a limitation of design. In many instances they just can't wrap up a show nicely in 12 episodes, and then you get things like:
fanservice episodes (because saunas are new and original)
drawn-out deduction scenes (for audiences that weren't paying attention to anything)
making melodrama go way over the top (it takes longer if they cry longer)
rabbit trails (filler episodes - sometimes good, usually not great)

Often just little bits of all of those sprinkled throughout that don't add anything substantial to the show other than time buffer.

Don't get me wrong, I liked SAO, and look forward to the next season. I wasn't knocking it, I was just asking if the show lived up to the hype.

I happen to like fanservice and saunas.

I totally agree that many shows pad episodes or cut down on plotline to fill a given timeslot. But fixed timeslots are necessary to fit TV programming schedules. Unfortunately, some compromises are unavoidable.

[MENTION=37707]FinalPyre[/MENTION]; lol, I clearly remember our little SAO discussions from a while ago. We disagreed then, and that probably hasn't changed.

Fanservice... it reminds me of Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry, who thought cheerleaders were "unwholesome" till the team's owner showed him "Debbie Does Dallas" a porn movie about a girl who wanted to be a Cowboys cheerleader.

Porn is in the eye of the beholder... or in the video folder of the external drive. ;)

So often fanservice just comes across as this mandatory shoe-in to me. You have your show going, and then it is suddenly "WE NOW INTERRUPT YOUR STORY FOR SOME FANSERVICE" [insert boobs] "NOW RETURNING TO YOUR SCHEDULED PROGRAM". Not out of place at all XD


I thought it was a game, but that trailer looked so much like a movie
