I don't think so much.
I know that if land was being invaded the people living there and the military; would burn down houses and crops so the opposing side wouldn't be able to use/take refuge.
A prime example was what the Russian did in world war II when the Germans invaded.
The tactic is called "Scorched Earth"

I don't think you comprend what I was saying.
The the bucket was never poured on me, it flow over me.

That is why I mentioned a dangling principle.
What that means is that it was interpreted different do to how it was written.

Here is an example.
Ex: I saw the trailer peaking through the window

We can assume that the speaker was the one how saw the trailer.
But since a subject matter was never acknowledged, it can be interpreted that the trailer was peaking through the window and the speaker saw it.

You said "Sky throws a bucket of water over sinny then runs!"
One way to interpret this is that you dumped water, from a bucket, onto Sinny's head.
Another way to interpret this is that you tossed a bucket containing water, and it sailed over Sinny's head.

Basically sin was making a joke by violating Grice's principles of conversation (that is, it was clear what you meant by context).



Also just to point out, Sin made a typo of "flow" instead of "flew" that made his explanation a bit harder to follow. :P

@sam wasn't greek fire a kind of flammable tar? I think a good amount of water would still put it out, but just a bit may spread it around, because it would be an oil-based fire.

According to Wikipedia, the exact formula was a secret, so it isn't known exactly what they used. However there are many probable speculations. I'm sure we could make far better 'greek fire' nowadays than they could, but of course it just isn't so useful in our kinds of combat. :P
