Making games is not easy... I'm in semester 5 for a game making degree (more specifically game art&animation) and that amount of work you need to do for one... I started with the Game Design Course (1year), finished it, fell in love with level design and then continued with art... and really... if you want to make games, you won't have time to play them anymore. I'm serious! And the amount of work needed to be done is just overwhelming. Every term we have to make teams and make one finished game in 4 months. It's nothing great and often not very polished but it's fun. We are forbidden to use Game Maker of the RPG maker and have to make everything from scratch, using engines like Unity and Unreal. We are also taught how to use the CryEngine but no games are made in it, it's mostly used for art showcases (because the shell of that thing is so damn hard, you can't do anything other than a basic shooter in it. We asked the coders of crytek why and they like it that way XD).
And I love the people in the industry, they are great.
