alright cool I figured it out. it was just weird to me that I had to change my settings to change the file extensions. I am like 90 percent sure I have changed file extensions before and not had to mess with that setting. anyway, thanks and cheers.yes you understand it right
if you are using windows explorer to rename files probably it don't let you to change file extension? because if i remember correctly windows explorer don't let user to change extension by default. what you do is rename file.png to file.zip.png and it is still looks like png for system. this can be googled to change this setting.
also you can just use winrar. it is basically free and if you mark files and press "extract" it will unpack it although they are named as pngs.
