Hey you guys! I'm fairly new to the otome gaming community and would like some suggestions for otome games please~
I am quite picky about art style but a good plot is necessary too, of course!

Console in Possession: PC
Games I've Played: Chou no doku hana no kusari (my baby majima xxxx) Chou no doku hana no kusari gensou yawa, koezaru wa akai hana, Gin no kanmuri ao no namida, youshiwara higanbana.

As you can see all of them were R18 games so i can shamelessly say that this is what I'm looking for. :3
My favourite game was absolutely chou no doku! I liked the art a lot and the plot was on point! Too much drama but the endings were all so satisfying to me, even the bad ones!
So if you guys can recommend to me some good games that are like chou no doku with a solid plot and a heroine with an actual PERSONALITY (yeah instead of those heroines that are easily swayed by the male characters) then please recommend some to me! ????

Hey, have you played "Ourai no Gahkthun ~What a Shining Braves~"? I don't think it is a Otome Game per se, but I think it's pretty similar and anyone would like it. Two protagonists, good story, great character development, specially the Female protagonist (and even the side characters).

Honestly, what you're looking for is what most of us want lol:
  1. Art style you like
  2. Good plot/writing
  3. Protagonist with a personality (when people say this, 90% of the time they mean a "strong" personality as in "strong of will, mind" rather than "distinct" personality. e.g. protagonists like Kanako from Torikago no Marriage has a subtler yet defined personality but is far, far from the "strong woman" types Western fans tend to prefer)

Sounds simple enough but getting the those 3/3 is a rare thing, especially #2.

Based on what you said, I'd recommend:

* Tsuki no Hikari, Taiyou no Kage is another Aromarie game, modern real-world setting like Gin no Kanmuri, Ao no Namida. The protagonist already has someone she likes but since for various reasons he's "distant", you can choose for her to move onto somebody else or keep pursuing her first love. The protagonist is a pretty normal person so she's relatable but not to the point of being a blank state. Your enjoyment completely lives and dies with how much you can like the guys because the story is character-driven.

* Yuuhei no Kyuudan is a doujin title so obviously production values are lower. The artstyle has more masculine guys but that can really "choose" players. Dark fantasy setting but I'd say it's no more brutal than Yoshiwara Higanbana's nastiest moments. It's short but coherent, dramatic to a reasonable extent but doesn't waffle because the writing is tight. The uniquely-designed protagonist is strong-willed with a sense of justice but since she's a civilian, she's mentally tough rather than physically.

* Sanzen Sekai Yuugi ~MultiUniverse Myself~ is a "space opera" more mixed towards story quality (not being "amazing writing" but not considered terrible) but is loved for its protagonist who's a bounty hunter with a very strongly-defined personality.

* Step -Futari no Kankei wa Ippo Zutsu- is another modern real-world setting with a relatively normal protagonist but not a "blank slate". For a high schooler otome protagonist she's pretty strong-willed and decisive. This game is a case of a simple slice-of-life working because care was put in the writing and they're not going for anything ground-breaking. Again, with these kinda games, your enjoyment completely lives and dies with how much you can like the guys because the story is so character-driven.

Thank you so much for your suggestions, MilkyBarKid!! I loved reading your descriptions, they really inspired met to pick something up lol x
I actually already had some of those titles on my radar but I've just added the other ones to my vndb wishlist! Tsuki no Hikari came highly recommended from a friend of mine irl as well, but the art i didn't like much and I'm not a fan of games with a high school setting so I'm not sure I'll like it. I'll try it these days. Oh and i hope all the games you've recommended are available on jere as I'm broke af *cough * tight on money these days to buy them hehe.
Thanks again i really had fun reading your comment x

Hey 3seven! I've just checked that game and oh gosh oh it looks quite interesting. I liked the concept it's fairly original so i think I'll try MangaGamer’s trial version for now. Thanks for recommending it. x

You're very welcome, I'm glad I could help! :boys_peace:

As far as I remember, all those games should be available. Please click on the link to our Otome/BL Game Index in my sig to quickly get directed to the games. I relate, don't worry. Our hobby isn't cheap!

hmm I suggest second reproduction? (same writer as koezaru wa...) may satisfy the conditions you raise.
or geten no hana isnt R-18 but got the protagonist with good personality and enough good art i guess.
maybe if not japanese game, peotagonits tend to have actual personality though i dont know for sure.
