I am trying to figure out if I have to put the files directly in the VN's folder before applying update patch.

解凍先のフォルダ内にある「Update.exe」を実行してください。
セットアップ先のパスを確認するウィンドウが表示されます。
アップデートを行う場合は、「アップデート」ボタンを押してください。
自動でアップデートが行われます。

アップデートプログラムが起動せず、エラーメッセージ等が表示される
場合は、正常にゲームのセットアップが完了していない可能性があります。
ゲームのセットアップを行ってから、再度アップデートプログラムを起動
させてください。
