This is the first I heard of this, I'll be pissed if my save file gets corrupted.
Nintendo has confirmed the existence of a game-breaking bug that's corrupting Pokemon X and Y saves, as well as revealed how it can be avoided.
Earlier this week, reports started surfacing that some individuals who saved in the games' Lumiose City found their 3DS consoles unresponsive when trying to load the file, and were ultimately left with no choice but to delete the save and start again.
Now, Nintendo has released a statement on its official Japanese site (via Nintendo Life) promising that it's working on a fix for the issue, and issuing guidance over how to avoid being affected.
Supposedly, utilising the save operation in certain areas of the city is what causes the bug. The problem places can be seen in the map below but, just to be on the safe side, it's being advised that you save in buildings like the Pokemon Centre if you want to avoid trouble.
If you're unlucky enough to have been impacted by the problem, then don't lose hope just yet; Nintendo has said its fix for the problem will also deal with any corrupted files. So if you can stand waiting a bit longer without playing, you may not need to lose your progress after all.
