I can admit that my game feels a bit buggy sometimes though. I don't know if it's normal to lag a bit during those horde battles when there's a more advanced background during the battle and I don't know if anyone else have seen the Frozen status ailment (the graphical part which shows that your pokemon is frozen) blink for about a half second now and then on my Abomasnow who's immune to being frozen lol
I think it's just bad programming on the part of the developers, they need to get more familiar with the 3DS hardware.
I think the only reason why the game lags is because Pokemon XY really pushes the hardware to the limits of what it can do and it's stilll not powerful enough. From what I can concur, 3DS games are capped to 30 frames-per-second which is why it appears to lag in some cases. Otherwise it just runs at 60 and certain areas just drop the frame rate a lot. I would like to see how Pokemon would be like in a more capable system like the WiiU. That would be great.
The dropped frame rate is noticeable in:
- Horde battles
- Areas that you've just flown into (and switch to using your bicycle/roller blades straight away)
- Luminose city
- Snowbelle City. You'll noticed the dropped frames here when you try move from the Pokemen Centre and are heading towards the forest.
- Some battles when actions take longer in battle as the game is still trying to process it.
Hopefully, most of these problems, if not all, will be fixed when they release the Z version of the game. If the fault is on the programmer's side, then a mere patch would solve the problem, which I don't think they have for saving in Luminose City yet...
