State of HF

To me its all iffy like last night it worked but very very slowly Right now at 11 am for me its working semi smooth. I don't care about any of the bells and whistles othere are kind of spoiled with like blogs, I got enough blogs from game devs bookmarked, to me it was always about the gaming community, and even right now while many using this instead I found a lot still active on hongfire. Its weird though that the new illusion game is out and no one made a released page yet for it, makes a lot harder to dig around for info, but still got people doing translation on its mod section for it, and its easier even if a bit slow to load to use then whats over here.

Like a thread just for mods and mod discussion its kind of a hot mess looking for info on mods here is not very fun, while slow hongfire still is my go to for stuff, but alas I had to come here to dig up things should be stickied on the released page like the translation engine I had to get that here, but I got more up to date translations for it form hongfire. Just like I found an uncensor, and many little goodies. Seems more like the staff have abandoned ship then the users. I just find it odd that there is so much still going on yet, no official page up with stickies, and even if I wanted to do one myself with stickies I found historically that is how you get in trouble for not being authorized to do it. and personally I don't have to the time to be a mod and manage game release discussion and keep up with links.

But right now that was Hongfires greatest feature in my opinion, I could look up old or new games and find people who liked the little pervy side of gaming like me and worked together to create mods, share char creations, work tirelessly on translations and present it in a neat little package so I could find it even for old games, and it had just enough rules in place I could feel comfortable talking about stuff in the forums knowing if I crossed a line I would get moderated, and there would be sections easily linked with a sticky where I could discuss anything I wanted about said game. Now instead I got scrounge around the forums, a lot of it is linked to pre-release discussion wich is frankly confused me good I thought that some how that game wasn't out yet because of that then saw release date, and had to dig for the all the stuff.

I am still doing it the hard way, trying to not complain but it just less organized, and more of a hot mess right now. That is why I love hongfire it has some order to it, at least in the game section, with active community. But just start feel like I am sinking ship I mean how long has this game been know to be out there for us, and no official updates to threads like prediscussion yet to include any of the new stuff, let alone a new thread to announce its out, with just basic, here is the mod section link, the char upload one, the studio one, and one to here. I mean it took me 4 hours of dealing with a slow responding hongfire last night to even realize people fled to here, just so I could get the translator engine for the updated files for it I already had downloaded.

I mean one of the big things I still got to find out if there is make shift wiki yet, that might be more help then digging around in here, like I only got the basics of what is going on. Just feels so not like hongfire right now...

Managed to retrieve the necessary mods for SBPR studio today (although I had to do some manual work for the Item Slot extender because the most updated version could not be DL'd, only the previous versions, 1.8 had most of it outside of ramoram's final update, which he included the itemlist for manual addition in his thread]...

...I wonder if it's just a stroke of luck or things actually got better because I could access the SBPR mod page more than a few times...H-game section was still off-limits during those times.

I'm starting to think things may be getting better.
Who knows, maybe HF just forgot to tell us he fixed shite? :reallyconfused:

IMPORTANT EDIT: SITE IS NOW USING V5.2.3

Pretty sure that was a bugfix and performance patch at this point.

It's time to skeddadle on back to HF, WHOO! :shinies:

HF is dead.

After 11 (13 being a lurker) years of being an HF member, i feel bad, but HF is still unusable even after the last update. All my mods uploaded on Hf servers are lost since that famous rollback...
I don't even want to log on HF. Looks like Hf is dead for me....

As of 09/20 can't even post a single reply in my own HF threads....

Doesn't HF have a lot of board staff? Has anyone heard from any of them? I would imagine maybe a mod would end up here too or something but yeah.

Good luck! Doesn't seem to have improved.

I think that's what irritates me more than anything:

They just don't seem to give a shit, anymore. Who wants to be a part of something like that? I only go on there, right now, because it's the only way to get certain mod information.
Other than that, it's a hollow mess.

..?
I can get on within a few seconds, and manage to post 85% of the time if we don't count getting logged out due to spending too much time writing a post

I mentioned in the other HF thread that I agreed that things may be stabilizing and speeding up back to normal since it got updated to v5.2.3 earlier today.

Again, we'll see how things turn out, in the long run. Still not crazy about how it functions, and that's how I felt since it got upgraded to vBulletin v5 in the first place.

well... idk when was this v5.2.3 update but the problem is still there it just got a little smooth.

For me, it is like you want to break up with your girl friend who stayed with you for 5 years.
You still love her, but you are getting tired from time to time, because some of her behaviour really irritates you.
So should you stay, or go? Perhaps you will get used to it/she changed for you, or perhaps the situation will never get better.

I try not to blame any HF staff. Who knows how tough to maintain a forum for years, with so many devastating events that could have killed HF (DMCA, hacker, etc)?
I don't know, at least. But trying hard to refresh every day, without any updates from the staff, is also gradually taking my patience away.

I don't even mind to "reset" everything if HF can be stable and usable again. Those things will be completely lost anyway, if HF dies.

oh! you should write a book!

well... the problem is not HF... the problem is vBulletin!
this will take lots of tickets to the support and patience,
something like a year? nah... guess 3 years top.

the problem is that vBulletin 3 is getting old =(
and the new ones are not good since the owner change u.u'

I've been doing some searching for problems with vBulletin 5, and have found nothing related to "slowdowns" resulting from increased traffic. Anyone got any evidence? I would certainly like to read up on what is the supposed problem. But this doesn't make me want to run back to Hongfire only to have it crap out again!

Oh, and saying, "It's working fine for me!" is like saying "I have a sandwich, so the rest of you can't be hungry!". Just remember, Hongfire would probably work fine for the spammers too!

At the moment, the site is like a rickety old bridge. Cross it at your own peril, but don't be surprised if it collapses under you.

Since the update I have really had no desire to even use HF. The subs are a total mess, and everything feels so unorganized for me. This recent slowdown is just one more kick. I absolute hate not being able to keep up with everyone's work, and communicating with people I talked with almost every day.

Still, not everyone is over here and HF is slowly recovering, but there has to be a better way.

Something else I have been wondering for a while. Why is there no Hgame modding scene on LoversLab? I would thing that two different groups of perverts coming together with a common interest would be beneficial to everyone.

Edit: I am all for the whole community being here on AS, but maybe I am the only one who feels that way. The site as a whole seems more active, and I can maintain my old HF habits... Though I do miss the comments on posts from the new HF version.

I'm perfectly content with sticking around on here; my only concern is with the modding situation, as it still seems that not everyone is comfortable with leaving HF to post mods, elsewhere.

LoversLab would seem like a decent enough location (being only familiar with the Sims modding going on there...), but I have no clue why there's zero interest in Illusion style games.
Every time I try to think of a reason or excuse for that it ends up sounding snobbish and stupid, lol, but who knows why it's non-existent, there?

One things for sure: there needs to be unity, somewhere.

I dunno, maybe the peeps over at LL is more interested in making H mods for games which gameplay doesn't revolve around just H? Used to visit there for skyrim mods, but that's it.

But yeah, while I'd hate to leave HF, on the other hand we can agree that we need a more accessible site 24/7. And since it's been having a lot of trouble lately, I'm actually considering moving on here too. :/ and I believe AS is a good place for our immigration if its needed (which it currently is).

i guess that the main reason is HF.
if you want to mod that company's game go to HF.
so no one thought to mod it else where till now.
if you think on HF no one was modding those other games,
so they took the lead...

:scared:
i don't like hoverslab

I agree I didn't like any of the new upgrades. The new quote system was a mess too, the one that embedded replies within the posts they quoted... there was still normal quoting, but it was a nightmare with how ugly and unorganized things were. And none of the promises fixed went into effect, like making avatar sizes bigger again, etc among other things like minimizing board categories, etc. And the new profile messaging and notifications were awful.

Maybe if they can make a comeback this will motivate them to try a different version or something.

Why does not work over here? am I missing something?
Sorry for the wall of text!

The wickedwoohoo mod came out and was posted over there a month or so ago and suddenly people start releasing new animation packs like every day. This was like hand crafted stuff too, not really ports.

Luckily Vive and Rift are building interest in Hgames, and reddit is sending tons of people to HF. Hopefully the site bounces back and it can grow again.

Maybe they like to be badass and do something you are not supposed to. lol LL is like the second place most people go for Bethesda mods. That kind of traffic could be awesome for Hgames. Every Illusion thread over there has died pretty horribly though.

I honestly think we may be forced over here this time, and that is ok... I would just rather that not be the case.

True, it is just a shame it is turning out this way. Hf is like the cool kids club. Smaller community where you can remember people and have a discussion, make some mods, and talk about games that many people do not even know exist.

This is as good a time as any. Thankfully HF is loading slightly better for me. Just having a hard time going back when everything I am active in is here. Still I try and go over to thank people and look at mods.

Add a "=" sign after the first SPOILER tag with a title, such as [;SPOILER=NSFW] your link/subject [/SPOILER]. Spoilers need a title here. Ignore the ";" in the example. I placed it there so the text would show up. :)

Here's what it looks like.
This is just a place holder for this tag.

Wait... TS4 has REAL "Woohoo" animations, now?! O_O

Well, looking at it, the modding they're doing is definitely more hardcore, eh? Adding functions that aren't there in the first place and stuffs. Then again, maybe adding H functions into a pretty good game is way more interesting for them since it's pretty easy to do (for them of course) compared to inserting an entire pretty good game inside games purely made for H. But yeah, think they're more interested in 'package' games. Then there's also illusion's optimization problems & stuff which I'm sure they don't want to bother with, unfortunately.

As for us being stuck here, well, couldn't agree more. As with everyone I'm sure, we'd all rather if all these problems don't hit HF in the first place.

lol. xD Well, yeah that's quite unexpected. Last time I heard there was one for TS3 but it got taken down & stuff, becoming very rare. I didn't bother looking for them though. Judging by this finding, man, the modding community over at LL is very much alive, eh? I wish they'd take interest in HS now, especially since it's finally an illusion game that's pretty much on par or almost, to present day graphics standard.

But hey, HS has actually become pretty popular, especially thanks to its VR function. Dubbed as the BEST porn VR out there thus far, it's been getting reviews in not only western H gaming media, but also certain mainstream gaming sites. So who knows if the folks over at LL would be picking them up. Or just about any godly reputable modder really.

oh, yeah! don't forget that illusion also releases one game every 6 months or so instead of 3 years and they look like demos instead of games... who wants to mod a demo?

Despite being a member for 8 years in HF, I was never very active on the site.
I must say I am very sad whith what is happening, and if the situation continues I wish that at least we could keep together somewhere else, either here or elsewhere, as I think that our community is fairly healthy and I always felt comfortable with you guys.
